Man...where I live (Windsor, Ont) the city workers have gone on strike. No garbage pick up. Not maintenance in the city. No nothing. Rats are running fucking wild everywhere. The entire downtown area, usually a nice place to go for a walk or grab some food/coffee stinks like fucking garbage.

People have actually started driving around, offering to pick up peoples garbage. $1 a bag. And they are getting harassed hard for it. Their cars are getting keyed. Restaurant owners who have spoken publicly against the strikers have had their restaurants egged and bags of garbage ripped open inside the restaurant as the striker runs out. And worst of all, a little girl and her grandparents went around to pick up some garbage on the streets and parks and this happened.

But lets forget about the garbage. Lets talk about the 4 feet of grass in all the parks where people bring their kids to run around, or bring their dogs for walks. Some people tried cutting the grass on their own, with their own lawnmower, but the strikers put pieces of metal and steel wire in the grass so it fucks your shit up.

Hm. The Red Bull Air Races are this weekend. I wonder how they are going to feel when they show up and the city looks like a fucking garbage dump?

Wow. I'm really not in any place to comment of the validity of the strike itself, but going this far is insane. People really are disgusting sometimes.

windsor is a great place to live other than the floundering auto industry and the bullshit city workers being on strike......i worked for a union once and hated it having someone else decide what was best for my career....shouldnt they just be glad they have a job in this city....aka the worst jobless rate in canada?

That too. What I think is going to catch the most flak is the potential legislation that will cut funding to animal shelters, and essentially reduce the amount of time animals will spend there before being euthanized (down to three days from six, I believe).

try having the city go on strike during the winter season and having no one plow the roads. My parents live in northern Ontario and that happened one winter and my mom literally had to take over a week off work because she couldn't get on the roads.
