For you Komodo Dragon fans

These things have always fascinated me since I was a *** - c'mon, they're called "dragons." They were also terrifying in that I was always led to believe their mouths were so filled with virulent bacteria that just a single bite would cause an infection and death which is how these lizards took down prey much larger than themselves. Well it turns out, that's not the case. A komodo dragon's mouth has actually less bacteria than say, a wild-eyed New York subway rider and there's no unusual strain not found in other lizards. Their bite is actually venomous with a toxin that acts as an anticoagulant and also causes paralysis. That's what does these huge water buffaloes in - they just ***** out.

I guess this was discovered a couple of years ago but I just saw it on ****** Planet. cool story amigo.

I'm just glad this bad-mouthing of komodo dragons has been put to an end. Yeah, dying from venom instead of bacteria probably doesn't matter in the long run, but it's just less gross.
