Fed-up Americans mobilize: More than 150 tea parties

Patriots put blazing heat on Washington, rebuke reckless spending

A revolution is brewing as American patriots and free-market advocates unite in protest against out-of-control government spending – with a wildfire movement of more than 150 nationwide tea parties.

John M. O'Hara of The Heartland Institute is a member of New American Tea Party, a coalition of citizens and organizations concerned about reckless government spending, is helping coordinate a number of national tea party events.

"Our message is simple: 'Bailing out' reckless businesses and individuals is neither the burden of responsible, hard-working American taxpayers nor the role of government," he told WND.

Here's a tea party everyone can join! Sign the petition calling for the Constitution and common sense to prevail when it comes to spending...

O'Hara said there is no question the United States is facing tough economic times, but he believes many politicians are not proposing serious solutions.

"The Congressional Budget Office and countless economists say that the recent 'stimulus' packages will likely hinder, not help, our economy," he said. "Tax cuts, not tax hikes and handouts, are the quickest, most efficient means of getting our economy back on track."

O'Hara said legislators must listen to citizens who are tired of irresponsible policies so the nation can recover.

"It is time politicians heed the will of the American people and the clear signals coming from the financial sector: stop the excessive spending, cut taxes, and get out of the way. Only then will we unleash the resilient, entrepreneurial spirit of American's that has made our nation great and which will propel us through this rough patch to more prosperous times ahead.

The New American Tea Party website states, "This isn't a conservative or liberal thing. This is about government forking over billions of dollars, our money, to businesses that should have failed. This is about taking money from responsible people and handing it over to CEOs who squandered their own."

Another organization, the Political Exploration and Awareness Committee, or PEACPAC, formed a website known as ReTeaParty and accepts tea party registrations from across the nation. It also provides detailed information on how to organize tea parties and posts photos of the events.

Tax Day Tea Party, a national collaborative grassroots effort organized by Smart Girl Politics, Top Conservatives on Twitter, the DontGo Movement and many other online groups, is also promoting the events.

WND has also launched its own tea party forum so citizens may exchange ideas, information and announcements about the "revolution." After reviewing various website protest listings, WND found more than 150 tea parties scheduled for upcoming months and compiled one of the most complete lists on the Internet. Here are some scheduled tea parties:

so they are going to destroy a bunch of corporate property, like the Sons Of Liberty did in the original "Boston tea party" or are they just a bunch of people standing around bitching about the government who will just ignore them the same as they have for every other protest that routinely occurs (as they did for the largest gathering of people in history for a single cause protesting against the war in Iraq).

I'm scared of revolution!

Well the website doesn't go into great detail, but it does have some video clips of other Tea Parties.

For the most part, it just looks like a bunch of people standing around in a protest. :dunno:

But I think I will go to the one near me, just to see what happens. My curiosity is peaked.

There isnt quite one that's less than forever-away from me. Ah well. Guess I'll send them that Wildberry Infused tea I've barely touched in the past year. Never really liked it. Sad, actually. I could really go for some tea.

There need to be more organizations like this one. I'm glad to see other people finally getting fed up with the corruption and improper use of OUR money that is occurring right in front of us. For crying out loud, they aren't even trying to hide it from us anymore, and we now have a "president" who, in record time, went back on campaign promises. Note what I said there. In record time. I'm not amazed that we have someone in office who lied to us. In fact, I would be more shocked if the opposite had occurred. It was the turn around time that has be befuddled.

We've said for years that the folks in D.C. have been out of touch with the little guys all across this nation. Recent events have further solidified in my own mind that they are truly out of control and honestly do not answer to anyone at all anymore. They are kids in a candy store, throwing your money around, throwing my money around, helping out the companies that have survived by taking advantage of you and me for years, and ignoring the cry from the street.

There needs to be a revolution.

When the men who founded this country and wrote the Constitution and Declaration of Independence, they warned all citizens of the dangers of a powerful, too intrusive government, and flat out called on all citizens, young and old alike, to take action when necessary.

That time has come.

Democracy is the idea that holds the most promise for a successful and peaceful nation to thrive and survive, and when we have held true to the tenets of a Republic, for which it stands, we have succeeded like no other nation in the history of this planet. In recent years, however, more and more has been given to the Federal Government, and more and more has been taken away from you and me. I see no end to this madness; in fact, the left that is destroying this great country of ours is proclaiming that the answer to America's problems is to let the government play more of role in our day to day affairs.

Enough is enough.

Something needs to happen. The people need to be mobilized. We burned the bastards out once before.....it needs to happen again. They have the guns, but we have the numbers. Fear needs to be replaced with a savage anger in our hearts, and D.C. needs to be taken back and given to those it was originally intended.

OF the people, BY the people, FOR the people. Not for Pelosi. Not for Obama. Not for any other fat cat company and crooked friend of Madoff.

This is our country, and we need to take it back.

Hello Sexy girl how your Toes doing?
Well I'd say they are 8 years to fuckin late.:mad:

Some pretty hilarious results stemmed from a recent similar and connected right-winger effort to get people to send their congressmen pictures of "tea bags" - anyone here ever seen the John Waters film "Pecker"? (possibly his best ever)

http://crooksandliars.com/bob-cesca/tea-bagger-blog-fail-day

I like that in the photo the nutball blogger misspells "capital". Wouldn't want to send the wrong the impression that these folks have a brain between their ears.

Why is it the 'Pubs always complain when they hear about Union strikes, but when the Right gets together to do the same thing....it's viewed as Patriotism?

Interesting distinction.

I'm sure Fox News will disperse Billo, Manatee, etc. to cover these work skippages....

Manatee - does that refer to Hannity or to Limbaugh (the appearance)??

I agree, but something REALLY significant has to happen in order to catalyze a Revolution because we as a people are very malleable when it comes to incremental change. I'm afraid that there has to be some type of calamity to occur, a calamity that the people can easily identify as being brought on by a grossly malfeasant govt.

Till then, we're kinda at their mercy. The people have to attain the ability to intimidate their so called representatives.

Both political parties are grossly malfeasant for not respecting the U.S. Constitution with all of their modifiers & revision . . . to hell with all of 'em !

"A revolution is brewing as American patriots and free-market advocates unite in protest against out-of-control government spending – with a wildfire movement of more than 150 nationwide tea parties."

I wonder who these people think they are kidding?:1orglaugh
Just read that above and its clear this is just a republican/conservative front group selling the same old nonsense that lost them the last couple of elections. The vast majority now know that you can't trust an unregulated "free-market" and have voted so.
What propaganda ,a "wildfire movement" huh,bet something like a hundred people if that show up for these events.
Don't they get it? Americans are worried and feeling the pain of the results of trusting the "free market" and will not again buy that snake oil of just give the wealthy tax breaks and all of us will do fine.Reagan,Bush 43 have tried that cut taxes and get out of the way stuff and all it did was result in huge defecits ,decline in real wages for the middle class and the current economic crisis we are in.They need to think up something new or like when FDR was elected in 1932 they will be out of power for a LONG LONG time.
