FBI: AWOL soldier had bomb materials near Ft. Hood

Too bad we can't sentence death for intent...:( (Well, conspiracy before the fact.)

KILLEEN, Texas (AP) — An AWOL Muslim soldier who had been granted conscientious objector status earlier this year was arrested and bomb-making materials were found in his motel room near Fort Hood, the same Texas Army post where 13 people were killed in a 2009 shooting rampage blamed on an Army psychiatrist, an FBI spokesman said Thursday.

Killeen police arrested Pfc. Naser Abdo, 21, on Wednesday and agents found firearms and "items that could be identified as bomb-making components, including gunpowder," in his motel room, said FBI spokesman Erik Vasys.

A clerk at the gun store where the 2009 Fort Hood shootings suspect bought a pistol used in the attack told The Associated Press on Thursday that he alerted police after a man bought weapons and gunpowder there this week.

Don't jump to conclusions now.

The guy might have just had some leftover gunpowder from celebrating the 4th of July:dunno:

A damn Muslim can't celebrate this wonderful countrys' birthday with a few homemade fireworks without being a suspect?

I should have been a Lawyer:1orglaugh

My client was just excitedly getting the leftover gunpowder at a discount with unabated excitement and anticipation for next years celebration.

Just like buying those Christmas decorations on discount after the holidays. :dunno:

Didn't read the entire story but there is a technical distinction between UA, AWOL and desertion.

Unauthorized absence...begins when you don't make muster. AWOL is either up to or after 30 days...(can't quite remember of the top of my head).. I think after 3 days up to 30 and desertion is some period of time thereafter.

One problem, your client had a federal arrest warrant out for him when he purchased some of these items therefor he was in violation of the law prima facie....

Here Zombie, Zombie, Zombie...
Not to say he's guilty or innocent, but I find fault with the term "bomb making components". Truth be told, we all have bomb making components in our households. Wires, some chemicals. If you reload, you have gunpowder.
He bought a lot and that is weird, but 6 pounds is nothing.
And he was "acting nervous" in the gun store. Maybe he's just a nervous guy.

This could be mostly the idiocy of the local media making up terms they don't have a shit and a clue about, and don't take the time, because it sounds "sensational."

On the local news around me, a man was arrested and he had in his home (in... his... home...) a AR-15 rifle. So fucking what. So do I. That doesn't mean it was illegal in any manner. But they reported it because, he was arrested and it was a black-evil-rifle, so it was sensational.

What's next, Macarthy era reborn? Fucking news and popular media need to go away.

My client won Conscientious Objector and was legally due to be seperated from the military when out of nowhere Child pornography SUSPICIOUSLY shows up on his computer? Hmmmmm.

My client was not awol he was still in a state of drunken Euphoria from his patriotic 4th of July celebrations. He may be gulity of ignorance of the Law ,but not of buying 'bomb making' materials.

My client not only was getting a discount and headstart on next years 4th of July celebrations he also aspired to do some MUZZLE LOADING HUNTING this coming fall in the proud Southern tradition.

But unlike other ethnicities who routinely buy gunpowder for hunting in the Great State of Texas my client was trageted because he was a Muslim American.

Shame on that shop owner for stereotyping my client.

Shame on the FBI/POlice.

Shame on the Media.

Shame on the state of Texas if they bring 'terrorism' charges.

And in closing. Shame on America:clap:

Army: AWOL soldier admits to Fort Hood attack plan

KILLEEN, Texas (AP) — An AWOL soldier who had weapons stashed in a motel room near Fort Hood has admitted planning an attack on the Texas post, where 13 people died in 2009 in the worst mass shooting ever on a U.S. military installation, the Army said in an alert issued Thursday.

Pfc. Naser Abdo, a 21-year-old soldier granted conscientious objector status this year after he said his Muslim beliefs prevented him from fighting, was arrested Wednesday. Agents found firearms and "items that could be identified as bomb-making components, including gunpowder," in his motel room, according to FBI spokesman Erik Vasys.

The Army alert sent via email and obtained by The Associated Press says Killeen police arrested Abdo after a tip from the owners of a gun shop and that he "was in possession of a large quantity of ammunition, weapons and a bomb inside a backpack."

Upon questioning, the alert says, he admitted planning an attack on Fort Hood.

Thank you counselor and juror no. 1. Case closed.:hatsoff:

BTW, conscientious objector just allows you to avoid conflict in certain circumstances. It doesn't relieve you of your obligated service.:2 cents:

:dunno: Tri instead of yelping you should have been encouraging 'styro to save his money. We don't need to speculate, this will be handled by military court martial, just like Hasan. (Who btw, is scheduled for a death penalty court martial.:2 cents:)

Court/class dismissed.

Yeah, and when Nobama reluctantly went to Fort Hood in the aftermath of the shootings he refused to use the same words. Pretty safe bet that he'll do the same. I'm hoping Hassan gets death (or DP'd). Either way, Nobama will stick his nose into it somewhere and get the exact opposite of what he wants. Hell, maybe they'll even expedite his execution because of it.

PS. Still with the 'reluctant' talking point 'styro?? I thought you were up on that being refuted....

Next time just type, "I am responding just to keep from being quiet."

I would respect that response more than this one which makes no sense and is factually inaccurate.

Due to unforseen private matters I regrettably will be forced to Recuse myself as Attorney from the case of PFC Naser Abdo. Hopefully this mix up will be resolved soon and PFC Abdo can resume his MUZZLE LOAD HUNTING this Fall and his beloved 'home made' fireworks display next 4th of July.

Yea Mega from what I understand he was due to be released from service ,but they found child porn on his government issue computer. He says it's a set up ,but I am thinking they 'routinely(?) searched his computer after his release and he had turned it in?

He was due to be seperated within days I believe, but they 'allegedly' found the porn.

I have heard that the military usually is more reluctant to use the Death Penalty than civilian court and the last time some one was executed by the military was 1959 or 69(?).
Going to work can someone confirm that?:dunno:

What is your opinion to what Hasan did and his possible punishment?

Really?? You have to ask ME that?? You really don't read my posts do you?

Ask Jag and ragin...what they think I likely think should happen to a person who premeditates then takes innocent life.

he had some gunpowder, which is perfectly legal to have, maybe he was going to reload some ammunition which is perfectly legal to do. In this economy it makes sense to reload your own ammo if you are an avid shooter.

Most likely they just want to fuck with guy because he is a conscientious objector.

He should never have joined the military to begin with if he was a muslim and he was uncomfortable killing other muslims and occupying muslim homelands.

If he isnt a Muslim and just used the Muslim thing as an excuse to not have to go kill innocent people in lands far away then I agree with him.
