Favorite Song Remake

For a long time it was Jimi Hendrix with Along the Watchtower. But about a month ago I discovered Ryan Adams version of Wonderwall, and it blows me away.

Don Trump calls me Pornography Man
Spirit doing "All Along the Watchtower"
also: the Led Zeppelin version of a song better known as "Dazed and Confused"

George Benson - White Rabbit (originally performed by Jefferson Airplane).

Another thing I have a bit of a problem with as most remakes are no where near as good as the original.Do like one or two but none I can really list as a favourite.Walk this way - Run DMC/Aerosmith if I really had to pick one.

Elvis' version of "Something" by The Beatles
Van Halen's version of "You really Got Me" by The Kinks

Elvis puts a lot of emotion into his songs, and VH makes that Kinks song rock!!

Whiskey in a Jar by Metallica. When my ex-wife was carrying our son he would kick like a madman every time that song came on the radio. No shit man. :)

persona non grata
Whiskeytown - A Song For You (original by Gram Parsons)

How about a remake by the band that also did the orginal? ;)

The Police remade the song 'Don't Stand So Close To Me' for their greatest hits album which was titled 'Every Breath You Take:The Classics'. I liked the remade version better than the original.

worst remake is easily boys of summer by the ataris...

best... oh god i dont know.. not a fan of remakes

If we're talking worst cover (IMO) it's a toss-up between either "Got To Have Your Love" by Liberty X or "Eternal Flame" by Atomic Kitten.

They are NO comparison to the respective originals by Mantronix & The Bangles (why don't these wannabes leave the classics alone?).............:weeping:

Mr. Daystar

In a bell tower, watching you through cross hairs.
I gotta go with "Pictures at an Exhibition" by Emerson, Lake & Palmer. The original is by Mussorgsky. Or Fanfare for the Common Man, by the same band but written by Copeland. I tend to dislike any rock song remade by any rap or country group, and God help me if I have to hear another Beatles song played in an elevator by some symphony orchestra.

Hurt by Johnny Cash, originally done by NIN
Good choice. They play it for the new season of The Shield, and everytime I hear it, it makes me a little sad, thinking about how he is gone:(

Nikkala made me do it!

The best part of that song, of course, is Eddie's "Eruption" solo at the beginning. Best ... guitar ... solo ... EVER! :banger:
