Evngelicals Pray for Climate Change Deliverance

It's a great change to see an Evangelical group using their time, energy and resources in a worthwhile cause to raise awareness about global warming instead of being used and pandered by NeoCons who trick them to get elected into office by proclaiming to be Christians, pro-family values, anti-gay rights, pro-life and promising them to end abortion. I'm sure this is disappointing to them when they realize they were duped by the NeoCons they voted for who end up breaking their promises and turning their backs on the religious right movement once these NeoCon politicians are elected into office.

There's no doubt that to pass climate and energy legislation, a diverse constituency is needed. A big boost could come from the evangelical community, many of whom hit the Hill recently to lobby for passage of a bill now. Led by Richard Cizik, who got booted from the National Association of Evangelicals for being too liberal on climate change and gay rights, evangelicals are after similar-thinking Senators who are sitting on the fence.

From the UK Guardian:

But Richard Cizik, a former executive of the National Association of Evangelicals, who is one of the leaders of the initiative, argues there is far broader support among religious communities for action on climate change that is widely understood. The younger generations especially are passionately concerned about the environment.

"These evangelicals have an intensity level that even some in the environmental community don't have. They believe this is their God-given calling," he said. "When you realise you have missed something - as I did when I had a conversion on these issues - you become like a new convert to the faith, a passionate activist."

For many, the connection between climate change and poverty in the developing world - a core issue for many churches - was crucial in forcing a rethink on climate change issues.

"There has been for some in this country a conflict between faith and religion and science and so climate change has been in certain ways a victim of the origins debate. Scientists believe in evolution, therefore I oppose evolution."

If evangelicals came on board, they would join Big Labor as two huge and influential groups that could flip coal state Senators like Claire McCaskill, Evan Bayh, and Richard Lugar. Almost a year ago, Cizik was ousted from the National Association of Evangelicals after more than two dozen evangelical leaders attacked him for his "relentless campaign" on global warming. Let's hope it was worth it.

Evangelicals, not Christians.

These people are a faux church.
"The falling away into apostasy".

Just thought I'd let you know.

That's how you know, first liberal, then they are incorporated.
These are not Christians.
Richard Cizik or "the National Association of Evangelicals".

so a Christian cant be liberal?

Not on issues like that.

People have taken the word and corrupted it.

The good Samaritan was liberal. He helped someone in need.

The "liberals" now act like Socialists, but are really fascists.
They like control under the guise of helping people.

Maybe the Fundie snake handlers can come up with a term for them too. How about CINO's (Christians In Name Only)?

Take it to the streets, WillE. Let's see you out there correcting all of the contemporary biblical distortions you see happening...

Oh, really.... Very enlightening...

Anyone that is evangelical I instantly do not trust. Since they are now believers that climate change is happening, I am now a non-believer in it

That's an interesting acronym. Does the acronym R.I.N.O. (Republican In Name Only) exist for NeoCons yet since they are faux Conservatives?

The NeoCons crucifided me but I resurrected

Hey! They did that to me once.

A bit of advice for next time, don't tell them you thought The Fountainhead was a "huge pile of fresh steaming dogshit" or that you think Ayn Rand was "a bit of a bitch". They're a little touchy on that subject, hence the crucifixion.

But overall, pretty nice guys......

I do wonder which church you belong to...

If they looked at the evidence they would realise they don't need to pray about climate change, but then people who check evidence wouldn't be evangelicals in the first place.
