Croatia have nothing like the team they did om3ga.
Russia are main threat and Israel could be tricky if climate stays like it is at the moment.
B.D.F are the tough groups by the look of it.You can call anyone one of at least 3 teams in each group.

My boys (Scotland) ain't going to the championships. Could finish anywhere in the group from third to sixth.

England have got a shit simple group.

Group B seems like the death group although Group F seems tricky.
Holland and England got what you call "a walk in the park". Although after England's disappointment in Germany their confidence might be shaken and they'll drop some unnecessry points.

Our team isn't really well nonetheless Hiddink's appointment - not enough skilled players, but we will try to compete with Cro and England for the first 2 places.

Question For The Brits

I don't really follow many european national competitions, and I've got what might seem like a stupid question for one of you British cats. Why does England, Wales, etc, not play as one United Kingdom in football? Is it just tradition? What's the story behind this?

Northern Ireland to qualify!

NI 1 - 0 England

NI 3 - 2 Spain.

Says it all really.

And to KFD: I think that we don't play as a large nation because you would need to have a certain number of players from each country in the UK team, otherwise lets face it, it would be an all England 11. Also, people want to have pride in their nation so it is better to have individual football teams.

the first international game in the world was between Scotland and England back in 1872, so aye, you could say there was a bit of tradition!

there used to be a Home Nations touranment back in the day, and the winner would be the one who qualified for the world cup. England won it in 1966, so they qualified for the world cup, despite the fact they qualified anyway as the hosts!

Thanks for clearing that up for me fellas. I just figured that the UK would have a better chance of winning the big competitions if all the best players were unified on one team. But if England already has all the best players, I guess they might want to keep them for themselves. ;)

Oh I see... so it was only used in 1950... but they basically guaranteed England and Scotland would both be going to that world cup.

Then the Scots were stubborn and said they'd only go if they won the home nations thing, so they had to beat England. They lost. If England had lost, both would have gone to the tournament.

It wasn't 1966 when England won, after all, but only 1950, and England may as well not have gone because they lost 1-0 to the USA at that world cup. Uruguay beat Brazil in the final in front of 200,000 at Rio's Maracana Stadium.

Only in 1950 has the BHC ever been associated with the world cup, and even then, it wasn't really, as England and Scotland were assured of the top 2 places which were both world cup spots, but Scotland declined their place unless they won the group - which they didn't.

This was probably because the scottish fa didn't have the money to send their team to Brazil, and figured they'd lose to England. Just a thought.

Fox

Uruguay beat the Brazilians in the final Match. but it wasn't a Final. They had a final Group of 3 ( The other Nation being Argentina I think ) and Uruguay vs Brazil was the last and decisive Match.

Interesting History Lesson there Fox :thefinger

That's very true, but it was effectively a final at the time, and has since been considered the 1950 final for all intents and purposes. It just worked out that way.

Why the middle finger? :(

Oops got on the wrong smilie there... Sorry Fox. In Fact your posts are always worth reading. :hatsoff:
