England Requiring Adults To Prove They Are Old Enough To View Porn Online

Newsagents are to sell "porn passes" so people of age can prove they are old enough to visit x-rated websites.

New laws will require online porn viewers to confirm that they are older than 18.

Viewers will be able to purchase a 16-digit code from newsagents to verify ages.

It will avoid them having to hand over personal details to X-rated porn websites.

The new rules were due to roll out in April but the Government has delayed them to ensure any system introduced in workable.

Britain's film censor, the British Board of Film Classification (BBFC), has carried out a public consultation on how to go around enforcing the proof of age process.

It comes after a recent report showed how a total of 1.4million children clicked on pornographic websites in a single month - half aged six to 14.

While the new rules are designed to protect children, it will mean that an estimated 56 per cent of UK adults who in 2014 admitted to watching porn 'occasionally' will still have to prove their age.

A spokesman for the Department of Culture, Media and Sport, the department which is introducing the legislation, said: 'We are in the process of implementing some of the strictest data protection laws in the world.

'A wide variety of online age verification solutions exist, or are in development, and they will have to abide by these high standards. We expect data security to be a high priority in the BBFC's guidance on age verification arrangements.'

The BBFC will not create the new age verification systems but will oversee their implementation.

What about google? Search Christina Hendricks naked for example. Will it block images and/or links from loading? What if one uses VPN and/or Tor?

From what I read here (not article fully) there seems like there can be loopholes perhaps

Nobody knows how google, twitter, or other big non adult sites will deal with this when it finally comes about. We're pretty sure the govt will go after porn hub and the tubes first, then the big porn sites but we're not sure if they'll go after google and whatnot at the same time, or after.

I didn't read the article, but I assume that this is about the age ID company that will allow people to go and physically get a card that allows them to ID themselves and access restricted content. They can do it at the grocery store or other retailers offering this service.

Right now there's about 5 or 6 different AVS (age verification services) that have thrown hats into the arena, one of them being porn hub. For all except one or two (one of them being the one where you can get physically ID'd), they're passing the cost onto the web site. So far I've seen quotes from just a few cents on up to .50 a user. This is why it's in the news, because it's probably going to be the one that the majority uses along with porn hub's.

Now, one of the things that isn't usually brought up in these articles since porn is the fun one to talk about, age verification will also be used for gambling, liquor and alcohol sites, probably some online games and other things the government doesn't feel the little special snowflakes should "stumble upon."

I think they mean the local Newspaper stand/shop usually with adult magazines, tobacco, alcohol, lottery tickets etc. Where people my age had to go to buy comic books before there there were comic shops. ;)

Oh goodie, let's all visit the newsagents and ask for a porn code. Nothing embarrassing or awkward there.

They let the children run around with portable computers in their hands all day make adults have to verify who they are so they can access websites they are legally allowed to access or not access.

Take the bloody internet capable phones off the little shits. Install and use parental controls, with a password the little shits won't figure out (not that difficult). Problem partly solved. And if any parent under 50 claims to not know how to use a computer to set up parental controls? Take the kids off them, they're obviously so fucking stupid, they shouldn't have pets, never mind be responsible for the upbringing of semi-sentient life.

Conspiracy...
They can't regulate other countries. So, people will just use VPN's or change their IPs to another country.

Time for people in Europe to fix their governments. First get the Muslim out of power in London.

This system is going to be used for anything you need to be over the age of 18 to access online. Movies, gambling, sexual things, porn, etc. Of course, the porn is what keeps getting pushed in news articles so everyone will think that's what you're getting it for. o-O
