DVD Play sofware question

I have a new imac and when I play a DVD, the option to take a screengrab is automatically prohibited. Does anyone here know of any programs that will play a DVD and allow me to screengrab? A friend of mine mentioned DivX once, anyone with OSX experience care to give me some tips?
