So, I was re-watching Mulholland Dr. and my boyfriend and I started discussing the scene where Naomi Watts is ****** while masturbating. I personally have never experienced it, but I'm wondering how common it actually is. My boyfriend, on the other hand, says he's experienced it several years ago due to his friendship with a married woman - basically an unrequited love type of relationship.
To me, sadness and horniness don't mix. When I'm depressed and/or sad, I want to cry or *****. When I'm horny, I want to have sex or masturbate. Sadness/depression ***** any sexual feelings, at least in my mind. It seems pretty masochistic to integrate something supposed to bring pleasure with painful emotions. My boyfriend argues that it's an indicator of how deep your passion runs for another person. He says it has more to do with lonely feelings you can't control, which I agree with (to an extent).
Since Mulholland Dr. was written by David Lynch, I wondered if maybe it was a phenomenon unique to males. I've never heard of any females doing this, but it's hard to get many women (even women my age) to admit to masturbating, much less doing it while ******. So, what's everyone's opinion? :dunno:
