Drivers can disregard red-light camera tickets in L.A.

City officials debating the future of the photo-enforcement system recommend that citations stop being issued at the end of the month and that the program be phased out.

Motorists who get tickets under the city's controversial red-light camera program can shrug them off, Los Angeles officials agreed Monday.

That was one of the few points of consensus to emerge from a three-hour City Council committee hearing on the future of the much-debated photo enforcement system. The session ended with a recommendation to stop issuing citations at the end of the month and "phase out" the program.

Beyond stupid, as yet another revenue stream will be lost and more fatal and horrific accidents and more reckless driving will now occur.

theyve been a disaster where i am. no one pays the "tickets."

ive actually been flashed maybe 5 times since they showed up and never got a notice. and each time, i was totally doing the speed limit. i think they go off just to scare people randomly.

Question: Is it still bad to mow down pedestrians?

well, the points system just changed. without cameras, pedestrians (aka, human cones) are again worth 50 points. men on bicycles (aka, dildos on wheels) are still worth 500.

dont ask me how that works, im just the messenger.
