I've only quit two jobs since my regular "career" started (i.e. not counting summer-type jobs). The first time was very gratifying, because they had not treated us very well, and two of us quit on the same day, leaving them in the lurch quite a bit. It was kind of thrilling.
The second time, I felt bad because they did treat me well and had in fact promoted me not six months before I got an opportunity I had to take.
The next time might be pretty good.
My favourite way to quit is to do the "no call,no show". Sometimes it takes more then one missed shift for a job to figure out that you aren't coming back.
once. I threw in a little twist. When they called to inform me that I was late, I told them I was on my way. They called back an hour later and I told them I'd just gotten out of the shower. She was livid! Told her I just got sidetracked and I'd be there shortly. She tried to call back 15 minutes later and I didn't answer. The phone rang off the hook unattended for the next few mornings before they finally got the message.
It's like walking through the outer prison gate in a new suit.
