I think this is really crazy, but I was actually part of a study for psychology today and we had two people work as waiters in a restaurant saying the exact same things and acting the same and we found the more attractive waiters got 35% more in tips

Typically I tip based on service rather than looks, but if the waitress is cute, I'll tip more. I have a friend who won't tip at all if it's a guy.

I agree to a point. ummm I think in this day and time, just on the table is the correct way. However if an older waitress I do make exception or if the male reaches for it abruptly, can't expect her to be rude and snatch it back. Each situation I feel has different circumstances.

Like in another thread someone said we can't carry around a book telling us whats acceptable in 2007 that was called or done differently in 1997.

Another point is that I tip for service more than using 2007 correctness so I may tip "less" if automatically handed to the male. I won't penalize totally if the service was all around acceptable. I think that a bit harsh, since she did serve.

To tip because of looks is insane to me.

It is rather true. A lot of the more attractive and enticing waitresses where I work are the ones taking longer to count there tips while the slightly older, and a little more covered up girls don't get as much.

For me, as long as the item(s) was timely, done correctly, and the person not rude, I tip according to the overall price.

It's part of how much I tip. If the service provider is rude, then I'm not going to tip well, if at all--even if they are the hottest girl I've ever seen. Likewise, if they do a completely outstanding job that will increase the tip, along with their looks.

I hate to say it, but I think tips may be related to how much they make us want to have sex with them. (I mean, I don't tip guys as much as I tip girls)

So they needed a study to tell if attractive people get treated better? I don't think the answer is too hard to figure out on that one. That's like those people that did a study of two women stranded on the side of the road with a flat tire, one ugly and one beautiful that both needed help to see who could get the most people to stop and help them. Hmmm...I wonder what happened there. They could have just asked any sane person and got the correct answer at a fraction of the cost and in about two seconds so they could have gone on to more difficult questions.

Now i work in a bar/resterant, and i find that if you just have a laugh with your customers have a smile on your face flirt a bit with the ladys then u get a nice tip.
