Did you watch the Grammy's?

It's always thrilling when they proclaim the winners of "Best Polka Album", "Best Vocal Performance In Instrumental Music" and "Worst Grammar In Rap"

Who won the metal category?

Taylor Swift won album of the year.

That is exactly why I don't watch and/or care about the Grammy's. Instead of handing out awards to the musicians with the most talent, who have constructed the best songs and/or albums, they just hand out Grammy's to pop stars. Taylor Swift doesn't even write her own fucking music, so why does she deserve to win anything? She doesn't. Yet, her (and people just like her) will always win these awards because it's not about being the best musician anymore - it's a popularity contest.

I watched up until after they gave Michael Jackson the Lifetime Achievement Award. I turned it off after that because that's all I wanted to see.

I happened to flip it on during this section. It was like watching a train wreck with a 70 year old Smokey Robinson, Celine Dion, Usher, Jennifer Hudson(I think) and somebody else I can not remember singing with the disembodied recording of the Gloved One's voice. Very strange performance.

Didn't watch, pretty much gave up on the Grammys when their voters gave the first Heavy Metal award to Jethro Tull. Mind you, the organizers somehow put Jethro Tull in "Heavy metal".

Well, there was that and then when Natalie Cole won Album of the Year for singing along with her dad. It was billed as an engineering breakthrough. The rest of world calls it Karaoke

I'm not a fan. And you can hate her for whatever reason you want.

However...she does actually write her own songs. And she plays instruments as well.

So she's much more of a proper musician than most of the other pop stars.

I saw jay z looking mad as when that guy called him Z. That was too funny. I also seen that wack ass performance at the end. Eminem killed it but CBS was hitting that censor butting a lil too much

Writing lyrics and writing songs are two totally different things. Kelly Clarkson writes her own lyrics for the most part, but she doesn't compose the music that she sings over. Just because someone writes lyrics doesn't mean that they actually wrote the song.

But, let's assume for a minute that she does compose all of her music - it still sucks. There are much, much better bands than Taylor Swift out there. She didn't win because she made the best record; she won because she's the hot item at the moment and her album won a popularity contest.

But, I will give her credit for actually writing her own lyrics (as horrible and cheesy as they may be).

That's basically life in essence now. Fuck the qualified; accept the popular and cool! American Idol voting, Presidency voting, and anything else that is open for the public to put their say into it.

Nope, haven't watched the Grammy's in years. It's just a popularity contest. It's a shame that some bands and solo artists will never be recognized because they're not mainstream.
