DEM Senator worries his party is going too far left

“If we as a Democratic Party are going to move from a minority at every level that is dedicated to resistance, to a majority that is capable of governing, we have got to move from grievance to optimism,”

But grievance is the democrats' life *****.

Wow, incredible : Pro-establishment candidates in the Democratic Party ? I can't believe it !

Democrats need to figure out something : voters are fed up with pro establishment politicians. That's why Trump won that's why Ocasio-Cortez won, that's why the DNC had to rig the primary to make sure Bernie would't beat Hillary

Here we go again, if only the Democrats would move more to the left they would dominate American politics. No worries, they are getting to run the most openly socialist candidate ever this time around and they will be lucky to win 10 states.

As for Ocasio-Cortez, she won a district of 232,000 active registered Democrat voters with only 17,000 votes. Her district is 48 percent Hispanic and only 18 percent white.

You are going to be greatly disappointed when Trump stomps a hole in the Democrat far left candidate’s ass. This country has not moved European far left.

Indeed, indeed :yesyes: USA has always been conservative and will remain conservative. Like Ronnie back in his days said:"Socialism is the equal distribution of misery."

I agree [again with the qualifier that if the economy melts down and/or Trump gets impeached all bets are off]

I think Johan may be somewhat underestimating the fact Hilllary's baggage went way way beyond simply being an establishment candidate.

If I were the Dems I'd go with pretty much a traditional mainstream liberal. There's plenty for one of those to ****** Trump on, and they won't chase away critically needed moderates.

Indeed, indeed :yesyes: USA has always been conservative and will remain conservative. Like Ronnie back in his days said:"Socialism is the equal distribution of misery."

I don't know how you figure that when we've had Clinton and Obama as 2 term presidents. At most I'd say it's moderately right. And good luck on it remaining moderately right as whites become a minority.

Majority of Democrats Want Candidates to Be More Like Bernie Sanders, Poll Finds

Vermont Senator Bernie Sanders might have lost his 2016 bid for the Democratic presidential nomination, but he certainly won a number of supporters along the way.

To wit: A new poll released Wednesday by YouGov showed that a majority of Democrats want candidates in 2018 to be more like the independent, democratic socialist candidate.

The polling firm asked: "Do you wish the candidates who run for Congress this year will be more or less like Bernie Sanders?"

A full 57 percent of Democratic respondents said "more like Bernie Sanders" in response.
16 percent said less while 27 percent responded "not sure."

Not surprisingly, Sanders was less popular with conservatives. Only 13 percent of Republicans said they wanted candidates to be more like Sanders, while 74 percent said less.

Independents were split. 27 percent said more like Sanders, while 35 percent said less, and 38 percent said "not sure."

The problem is that Clinton and Obama have victimized minorities where as Trump has given them employment and he has drastically reduced the number of people living on food stamps. The mainstream medias love to portray Trump with all the usual slander and name calling. He is doing far more than what Obama and Clitnon did in their both terms combined.

How many time will I school you, debunking your lies with facts ?

President Clinton added 21.5 million jobs, a 19.6 percent increase.
There were 131 million people employed in December 1999, the end of his term. That's 21.5 million more than the 109.5 million employed at the beginning of his term.

[...]

President Obama created 17.267 million jobs by the end of December 2016, a 12.8 percent increase[/B].
There were 152.111 million people employed at the end of his term. That's compared to 134.844 million working at the end of the Bush Administration.

[...]

President Bush created 2.1 million jobs during his eight-year term.

[...]

George H.W. Bush (1989-1993) added 2.6 million jobs, a 17.6 percent increase.

In his first year, Trump added 2.06 million jobs assuming he's gonna keep that pace for 8 years (since trumptards are promising us that Trump will be a two-term POTUS) that's 16.48 million jobs, less than Obama and not even close from Clinton

For the record :

President Reagan added 15.9 million jobs during his eight-year term, a 17.6 percent increase.
There were 106.9 million people working in December 1988 compared to 91 million in December 1980.

Trump = Reagan < Obama < Clinton

Suck it !

"Do you wish the candidates who run for Congress this year will be more or less like Bernie Sanders?"

That's actually a pretty vague question. More or less in what way? They didn't specifically mention his political ideology.
I might answer yes myself if I was answering based on his passion and enthusiasm.

But then again maybe you're right, Johan. As a boomer maybe I'm more out of touch with what millennials want than I think I am.

You are not enough knowledgeable to school me on anything because first you hadn't any data especially regarding reaganomics . You can't back it up.
Ok let's compare with charts, Obama vs Reagan recoveries while we are at it. Higher GDP growth, household income, payroll jobs, long term unemployment but more importantly a far more significantly lower foostamp enrollment rate, an almost non existent misery index, a smaller average of number of weeks unemployed and also a smaller deficit under Reagan two terms presidency.
The Reagan recovery allowed the USA to reach a growth of 4.79% per year , it was only of 2.24% with Obama

Obama has raised the debt of the USA to unprecedented levels with his fucked up ACA, he has the highest number of food stamps and creation of precarious jobs with a small income isn't what Americans expect.
Trump=Reagan>Clinton>Obama
Adding 2 million jobs while protecting the interests of his country in less than 2 years, Trump did a very good job.

Interesting. I'd like to see Obama numbers compared ot his predecessor numbers, it would give us a more accurate view about his performance as President

When Clinton took office, the GDP growth was +3.6. When he left, it was 4.2
When Bush took office, the GDP growth was +4.2. When he left, it was -0.3
When Obama took office, the GDP growth was at -0.3, when he left it was +1.6
