Rented it for PS4 after not even knowing what kind of game it was. I don't like horror/spooky games though I did play and finish The Last of Us which was a surprise. What made me do it was the story. Ellie is amazing. Joel is cool. They made it interesting enough for me to keep pushing on. Fuck that one generator part. Fuck it super hard.

Day's Gone feels like The Last of Us in a few ways. I feel like the storyline isn't all that captivating. It's no Last of Us, that's for sure.

First day I played it I was like meh. I almost returned it. Then I gave it another chance, and actually enjoyed exploring the woods. I'm a week or two in, and its feeling flat to me. Repetitive ambush camps, rippers, finding scrap, berries, herbs. I think at this point in the game, we needed to end up in the mountains or something. I'm getting a little bored. AAA title, yeah?

It's not so much that's it's bad as it's just another zombie apocalypse game that's ends up being very generic. It's mediocre to the point the game gets very forgettable. The plot isn't anything noteworthy. The main protagonist didn't really get me to like him as a fictional character. There are no new or creative game mechanics the game offers. The fighting and shooting isn't anything that's new or great. The bike you ride on doesn't offer anything fun. The exploration of the map to pick up goodies has been done in more games than I can count anymore, and even then there isn't anything interesting to see just for explorations sake. The game's plot twist is something a lot of people will probably figure out way ahead of time. The sidequest get grindy and repetitive. It's in a genre where there is so much competition that just being mediocre doesn't cut it anymore, especially for a full priced game.

About the only above average aspect of the game I found were the puzzles where you once in a while had to figure out creative ways to deal with some of the very large zombie hoards, and those weren't nearly enough to salvage the rest of the game for me.

I heard it was pretty bad with many glitches in the game. I didn't even bother getting it. I would rather get The Last of Us 2 than buy that shitty game.
