I didn't think I'd like it, when I found out I could have my own apartment and furnish it and make a little home away from home, I was like, I can have a Second Life sort of thing, but better!

I have some experience with Poser 7 and programs like that, but the only complaint I have on these sites is the quality. They aren't up to the standard in some ways of the gorgeous 3D models that Poser cranks out, and I have no idea why.

Any of you comp graphic people have a clue why the quality isnt all it could be on 3D cyber sex/ virtual world sites?

I have yet to see one that's what I'd call perfect, honestly.

I have yet to see one that's what I'd call perfect, honestly.

One reason is that the polygon count and lighting quality has to be reduced for the games to be able to run with a decent framerate, especially in multiplayer. You can spend hours for a single picture render in Poser and other 3D modelling programs to get an extremely detailed result and as many polygons for the models as can fit in your computer's memory, but it's impossible to do when you have to have a game that has to run at least 25 frames per second. The rendering level of Poser-like 3D modelling programs (that is, using raytracing instead of rastering as a rendering method) cannot be achieved until at least 16-core CPUs become common and affordable and even then they will have to cut some corners when applying this to games, I imagine.

The other thing is simply that there just aren't properly skilled artists to design the models. The skill of a 3D artist is especially important when working with a model that has a limited polygon count. Maybe the truly skilled ones aren't that interested in working for porn game companies?

Anyway, the cyber sex games I'm somewhat familiar with, such as sexsim.com and 3D SexVilla have relatively good female models in my opinion. They could do with a lot more variety and customization options though.
