Creepy or Cool?

So I was checking out some cos girls and what have you (being a nerd after all), and I came across all of this CGI stuff. Usually you'll see the stupid monster stuff on the bottom of tube sites but this some of this stuff is pretty impressive (quality-wise at least). Most of this stuff is not good or decent at best, but the ones that are good, are really, really good, like you have to really study it to tell whether or not its a photograph kind of good (again, good in terms of quality). I don't know, part of me is saying, "hey computer graphics are freakin' crazy now!" and another part of me is saying, "Really? these 'chicks' aren't even real".

I'm curious to know what you guys/gals think.

Though they are quite realistic and the lines between these and the real thing are starting to blur, it's still fake and does nothing for me. Recreating the human face digitally will always have it's drawbacks because although they can recreate the features extremely well, recreating facial expressions that our brains are used to is another thing. Mimicking our eyes especially is really hard. We are able to tell subconciously that something is not quite right. The eyes always look cold and emotionless. It's why we usually find ultra realistic dolls, robots, CGI animation, etc as creepy. I know I do.

This is actually a thing, with a name (that I've totally forgotten). I read an article on it a number of years ago, basically stating what you are: that the closer and closer our mimicking of people gets, the creepier it gets (whereas, say, cartoons aren't nearly as creepy - because they don't look anywhere near realistic). That is until they inevitably cross that threshold where there is no visual difference.

I doubt it. The images are pretty life like but still we can tell the difference. I would assume animating them would be much more difficult.

I think Playboy has been using CGI models for years. In fact, some of these look a lot more real than the average Playmate. But jokes aside, those do look incredibly real!
