Other then hardcore gamers or graphics hogs; is ANYONE buying desktops these days?
others here know way more then me.
But to me...RAM looks barely adaquate. Same with HD. And I assume the graphics are also just adaquate. Compaq (hp) is a solid brand (imo).
But for $300? Sounds great to me.

I saw this here is this a good deal ?
I would rather jump on this than rather stand in line on Black Friday dealing with the crowds so I'm hope this is good.
My understanding was that 2 gigs can run Vista, but barely. But I could be wrong.2 gigs ram? Enough to run vista.. and especially winXP or any linux distro.
I have a 750 gig HD plus around 500 gig's of external HD and I vaguely wonder if it will last me until the end of next year.160 gig HD is low-end these days, but most people dont even USE half of that. Digital-camera pictures, iTunes and a game or two isnt going to eat up 50 gigs anytime soon. :sigh:
Excessive HD size these days. Just plain unnecessary.

What the FUCK do you have on your computer that takes up nearly 1,250 GIGABYTES?!?!?!? :wtf: You can literally run a huge business with that amount of power. SHIT!!!
I have 4G of HD and around 40% of it is "free" at the moment. FYI - I've had the same PC since 10 or 11 years ago. And, yes...I have WIN98. HA!!!
Looks like a good deal but it still depends on your needs.
Are you going to use it for games, photo/video editing or other stuff that eats up resources?
Umm, I don't know if I'm looking at this ad the wrong way, but beneath the laptop in question, it says "Minimum 10 per store". So, I'm not sure if the ad is for the public or for computer retailers. I would look into that first.
Just for basic stuff plus I'm going to buy 1 gig ram for it.
Don't waste your money. Get it first and then see how you go. Everybody thinks it's all about RAM but you can waste it. If your computer is under RAMmed then yes, it will run slow, but any RAM in excess of what you need does precisely zero for performance. On top of that, it probably has 2 RAM slots with a 1 gig stick in each which means no empty slots for your additional gig. Again, save your RAM money until you know you need it.
Senob and I stopped at the Evil Empire Store this evening. They WILL have at least 10 for sale tomorrow.
However, Wisconsin law (we were told) says that they have to sell them for $398. :dunno:
I'm in California and the store I went to had 62 in stock, price was $321.10 with tax included.
