You are right. But there are a few hosting site, those are linking to content-sharing sites, and pays money to upload to images/vids. To be fair, I can not, in all fairness, retain some and delete others. So all the hot linked ones are deleted. But the links were retained. That way the content-sharing site names are not shown. Only the image comes up.

Some members are hot linking HC images. That is NOT ALLOWED.

And the time it takes to show the page is enormous.

Hence the decision to link all, but not to allow the hot linking.

Moreover there is a size restriction. Normally ,jpg and ,gif images is to remain within a limit of 293 kb. Certain cases it has reached 3.2 mb. And unfortunately most of the gif images violate this size limit.

Please understand it is not a hostile action on our part.

Do you know what is the size of these images. 3.8 MB and 1.4 MB respectively. What do you say, should be done? When the attachment rule says the attachments can not be more than 293 Kb?

It is burdening the load on the board server and then we start complaining why the server does not respond properly.

I knew it looked like a modern parody of something from the 60's/70's.
Also, you taught me something. I didn't know you could add =# to the end of the URL link to go directly to a specific part of a clip. Oh, but I also learned that you don't need to add the 's' at the end. Anyway, thanks :hatsoff:

To understand entirely, and to do so publicly (in the hopes that everyone will benefit from our exchange, but thank you for the PM), are we NOT allowed to insert images in a thread like this with a service like http://hotchyx.com/ ?

And also to be very clear - I have no desire to break board rules. I was told to use http://hotchyx.com/ by a former mod who had an excellent knowledge of the rules here. That is why I have been persistently using that hosting site.

Thanks in advance for any consideration you give this post.
