Christina Applegate has breast cancer

LOS ANGELES (AP) — Christina Applegate reportedly is undergoing treatment for breast cancer.

According to the syndicated television newsmagazine "Extra," a representative of the actress released the following statement late Saturday:

"Christina Applegate was diagnosed with an early form of breast cancer. Benefiting from early detection through a doctor ordered MRI, the cancer is not life threatening. Christina is following the recommended treatment of her doctors and will have a full recovery."

A message left with Applegate's publicist was not immediately returned.

Applegate, 36, has earned Emmy and Golden Globe nominations for her starring role in ABC's comedy "Samantha Who?" She helped establish the upstart Fox network in 1987 as ditzy teenager Kelly Bundy on "Married ... with Children."

I completly agree with you, its disgusting that its only news if a celeb has it, how many other women were diagnosed with breast cancer today and how many other people were diagnosed with other forms of cancer.

Most celebrity news makes me sick, E News should be burned to the ground and every employee should be shot on their way out of the building as they flee.

A lot of times a celebrity being diagnosed with something brings a lot of attention and money to the cause so it's not the negative some of you are making it out to be. Sometimes I really believe some people say what they do to be the "rebel".

This is sad news for sure, Christina has always been one of my favorite actresses ever since she was on *married with children" I have followed her career as best as I could shes a great actress and sexy to boot.. although saddened to learn of this terrible news I am glad to hear she has a great prognosis to make a full recovery..

just too clarify when a celebrity is diagnosed or effected by some kind of sickness or tradgedy such as this, it usually brings a allot of needed attention and money to subjects I am certain are NOT ignored most of the time like SOMEONE mentioned earlier in the thread, thats not the case @ all, its just that regular people like you and I, don't generate a national audience or world wide concern cuz we are not famous and nobody knows us so its only news to our family and friends..

So when this kind of thing happens to a celebrity of course its unfortunate for that person/celebrity but it also HELPS refresh and intensify the care that normally wouldn't be their if wasn't for a celebrity being touched by important issues that are not normally given so much attention @ one time!! :hatsoff:
