Some transcript for the video-impaired:

MATTHEWS: That`s the bragging point of the Republican Party for the last -- I asked you to name one thing they`ve done for this country in 15 to 20 years. I`ll keep going back further. And you`re having a hard time giving me an answer. What has the Republican Party...

HARRIS: No, no. I`m...

MATTHEWS: ... done for the country?

HARRIS: I`m not...

MATTHEWS: I`m just -- it`s a good question.

HARRIS: Chris, I`m not having...

MCMAHON: Squandered the surplus.

HARRIS: ... a hard time giving you an answer.

MCMAHON: Don`t forget, squandered the surplus.

HARRIS: When I decide to write a book about the history of the last 20 years of the Republican Party, I`ll be happy to talk to you about that.

MATTHEWS: No, just give me one...

HARRIS: My job is to win elections -- my job is to...

MATTHEWS: Just give me one.

HARRIS: ... win elections in 2010.

MATTHEWS: OK.

HARRIS: And I`m going to keep my eye on the ball.

MCMAHON: He doesn`t have one. He doesn`t have one!

MATTHEWS: Steve McMahon -- Steve McMahon, YouTube is watching. You`re the Republican consultant, one of the best in the country. Tell me what the Republican Party has done for this country in the last 10 to 20 years? Thank you, Steve McMahon.

(LAUGHTER)

MATTHEWS: Thank you, Todd Harris. You got plenty of time, `64 -- we`ll have you back with the answer.

What has the republican party done for us in the last 20 years, Matthews asks? I can answer that even if McCain's loser strategist todd harris can't:

-- Decimation of the middle class

-- Corporate overseas loopholes

-- Monsterous deficits

-- Inept foreign policy

-- Bankruptsy legislation skewered toward the credit card companies

and on and on and on.

John Boehner, Mitch McConnell, David Vitter, Tom Delay, Bill Frist - these people have done NOTHING for any of us but make everything harder. When they were in power (particularly Boehner and McConnell) they were the nastiest of opponents, showing up on Nightline daily to spew falsehoods and insults at democrats EVEN WHEN DEMOCRATS WERE COOPERATING WITH THEM.

These guys are all spoiled little children. They refuse to participate in a democratic system unless they are the ones making the rules. It really doesn't matter to them what's good for the country. They could give a ***k. Time and again, it's been about what's good for them. Speak poorly about democrats as much as you like, talk about their soft spine if you want - at least their basic platform is worker-sympathetic.

And what have THEY done? Alot.

-- Americans with Disabilities Act

-- Family and Medical Leave Act

-- Doubling of the minimum wage

-- Antitrust regulation

-- Medicare/medicaid

-- Unemployment protection

-- Worker's compensation

-- Creation of OSHA and EPA

-- 1964 Civil Rights act

I spend a bit of my time arguing with idiot conservatives on their own right wing blogs. Most of the time it's a lost cause. These people never seem to realize how hard they're getting ***ked by their own party. And most of the time they insult you and tell you how traitorous you are to this country.

The Best That Can Be Said
January 7, 2010 - 10:04 ET by SimJim

The best I can say for the Republicans in recent years is they didn't screw up the country as quickly as the Democrats. In one sense Matthews is correct, Republicans have been a failure, but if you ignore the other side of the equation, the Democrats, then the perspective is distorted in a very left leaning direction.

No doubt Republicans have lost their way. McCain was a disaster waiting to happen. Sure, he was a Category 3 to Obama's Category 5, but a disaster nonetheless.

I'll be looking for and voting for the Bachmann types. Anything less and I'll McCain them again.

The simple truth is this: Republicans have ONLY created laws and legislation that is good for Republicans. By definition of patriotism and democratic thinking, they have proven to support the opposite.

The country should reward them by ignoring them completely.

@ HELLRAISER:

OK, we get the point. You're against anything on the right side of the fence. Stop acting like a broken record player, it's boring. Also, you should get laid. Maybe that will cheer you up.

The Republicans toppled Saddam and "freed" the people of Iraq so we'll never have another 9/11.

Oh, wait a minute.....

We conservatives believe we don't need the government to do anything for us. Do you need big nanny government to come and change your diapers, you little baby? Government has a role, to protect the nation's sovereignty and its interests, to make and enforce laws, the administration of justice and to punish criminals. When government starts getting involved in people's lives that's how you create dependence.

But I guess this is just proof that conservatives and liberals have a very different view of what freedom is. For conservatives, freedom means freedom from oppression, freedom from tyranny and intrussion by government into our lives. For liberals freedom means freedom from need and freedom from wants. Yet, when all your wants and needs are being met, then what would the incentive be to wake up every morning at 5 or 6 a.m. and get your ass to a place of work? Not much, right? If someone else has to pay for the roof over your head, the clothes you got on, the food you're eating, the doctor who's treating you, are you really a man?

No Republicans did not, the fucking United States Armed Forces did. I don't remember seeing Karl Rove over there standing next to me taking rounds and frags.

And believe it or not people in Iraq actually liked the fact us that we got rid of So Damn Insane.

Yet Dems are making a huge difference. Our government is so fucking corrupt that no party can get it right IMO.

One of the Republicans greatest achievement was McCarthyism. The spirit of old Joe McCarthy lives on in the modern day with the Republicans witch hunts. For example, the birthers, teabaggers and the hunt for the Godless in the government is a strong as ever.

^
Ah yes McCarthyism--let's create a controversy, make a bunch of baseless accusations toward a bunch of innocent people and then build policy based on these false assertions
Ultimately, McCarthy's tactics and his inability to substantiate his claims led him to be censured by the United States Senate. The term McCarthyism, coined in 1950 in reference to McCarthy's practices, was soon applied to similar anti-communist pursuits. Today the term is used more generally to describe demagogic, reckless, and unsubstantiated accusations, as well as public attacks on the character or patriotism of political opponents.[2]

Great legacy Republicans :hatsoff:

I agree with you. YOU and your fellow brothers in arms including my brother in law took down that ass hole not Bush, Rove or any other Republican. All I can say is I argee with what Matthews said.

I only have one other thing to say. I don't support the war in Iraq, but I support those who are fighting it our men and women of the United States Military

Commiecrat :hatsoff:

Joseph McCarthy was correct. Like it or not.

Although Joseph McCarthy was one of the most demonized American politicians of the last century, new information -- including half-century-old FBI recordings of Soviet embassy conversations -- are showing that McCarthy was right in nearly all his accusations.

Yeah. Getting laid might help. Just remember:

Nothing wrong if you call your penis Neocock because of your twisted fetish towards the word neocon and thinking with your intellectual neocon-like neocock!

Neocock!
Neocock!
Neocock!
Neocon!
Neocock!

He will never look at his penis the same again. It's a neocon neocock now!

I agree this portion of your comment. That is why the "war" on drugs should be ended, pot legalized, and prostitution legalized. If someone wants to destroy their own body or sell their bodies the government should not be able to interfere. Legalizing and regulating marijuana and prostitution would take us out of the recession but this will never happen because of the (religious) right. So if anything, Republicans try to interfere in our lives more than they'd have you believe.

Also, If gay people want to get married, let them get married. There is no real argument, that isn't "holy book"-based, as to why they shouldn't be able to.

I like how Bush Jr. kept America safe during 9/11 and how he kept Louisiana safe from Hurricane Katrina. I also like how he told Al Queda to "Bring It On!" and how he declared "Mission Accomplished" on an aircraft carrier

No... :hatsoff: Nothing needs to be legalized.
There are other countries that have legalized these things.
How about moving to those countries. ;)
