Chavez calls Obama "ignoramus"

Reuters Article

Okay well if he said it.....:rofl::rofl:

CARACAS (Reuters) - Venezuela's President Hugo Chavez said on Sunday his U.S. counterpart Barack Obama was at best an "ignoramus" for saying the socialist leader exported terrorism and obstructed progress in Latin America.

"He goes and accuses me of exporting terrorism: the least I can say is that he's a poor ignoramus; he should read and study a little to understand reality," said Chavez, who heads a group of left-wing Latin American leaders opposed to the U.S. influence in the region.

Chavez said Obama's comments had made him change his mind about sending a new ambassador to Washington, after he withdrew the previous envoy in a dispute last year with the Bush administration in which he also expelled the U.S. ambassador to Venezuela.

"When I saw Obama saying what he said, I put the decision back in the drawer; let's wait and see," Chavez said on his weekly television show, adding he had wanted to send a new ambassador to improve relations with the United States after the departure of George W. Bush as president.

In a January interview with Spanish-language U.S. network Univision, Obama said Chavez had hindered progress in Latin America, accusing him of exporting terrorist activities and supporting Colombian guerrillas.

"My, what ignorance; the real obstacle to development in Latin America has been the empire that you today preside over," said Chavez, who is a fierce critic of U.S. foreign policy.

In the 20th century the United States supported several armed movements and coups in Latin America. Chavez says Washington had a hand in a short-lived putsch against him in 2002, which was initially welcomed by U.S. officials.

Chavez and Obama will both attend the Summit of the Americas in Trinidad and Tobago next month. It is not known whether they will meet.

Most of OPEC nation Venezuela's export income comes from oil it sells to the United States, but Chavez has built stronger ties with countries like China in an attempt to reduce dependence on his northern neighbor.

Chavez expelled its U.S. ambassador in September in a dispute over U.S. activities in his ally Bolivia, which also expelled its U.S. ambassador. Ecuador's left-wing President Rafael Correa this year kicked out a mid-ranking U.S. diplomat.

This is terrible news for all the Obama haters :(

Supposedly our prez and Hugo were thick as thieves; socialist brethren joined harmoniously at the hip.

But now....... :crying:

When I think of all the paranoid, hysterical little hearts Hugo just broke.......it just makes me so damn sad :(

About the only thing I'd ever agree with Hugo is that statement.

I have to support Chavez. Obama or not, American governments should stop interfering countries which don't like foreign noses in their domestic politics.

Making false accusations without proofs to back them is a dangerous habit. Bush's Iraq blunder is too big an evidence to ignore.

spoken like a true ignoramus

That's it? Your usual literary equivalent of a "grunt"...and no developing the reason he is a true ignoramus? Please...educate those of us not on your intellectual level as to why that is an ignorant statement.
Can you write a few sentences, express a few thoughts, all by yourself?
I'm sure we'd all be delighted...

This is impossible. Absolutely impossible. In addition to making flowers bloom when he passes by, and couples fall in love when he smiles, Obama was supposed to make the world all better just by getting elected. Both Islamic tyrants and Sawed off, loud mouthed South American communist dictators were just supposed to feel all sparkly and twinkly just by having him as president of the US.

How can this be happening, that Chavez treats Obama EXACTLY the same way he treated Bush?

Could it be that Chavez is just...

a dick? :dunno:

There's so many good insults to use and he chose ignoramus? That fucking inbred, troglodytic, afterbirth of a lesbian fingerfuck Chavez!!

Remember since he compared Bush to the devil, "ignormaus" is probably an upgrade in Chevez's mind. Not that anything Obama said was false. Chevez will get upset at pretty much anybody that doesn't kowtow him and his policies.

Chavez is a classic South American dictator, and since 2 days he has had his military take over control of major airports and ports in, I believe, 4 provinces where members of his opposition are the dominant political party.
He has made himself electable forever, and insures elections will always be his venue for "legitimacy" by killing, arresting, and shutting down the opposition. Then, rigging the results as well, just in case.
While I have many problems with the Prez, and even more with his intolerant zombie-like supporters, he has Chavez pegged right on the money.
Duh...
How he deals with him will be the important thing...not the fact he has a correct assessment of Chavez.

Well, sorry...all governments are involved at some level with "interfering" with other country's domestic politics. Do you watch a soccer match on tv and criticize the teams for interfering with each other's goal attempts?
Most every country in the Eastern influence makes outrageous claims all the time, as do most countries everywhere in varying degrees...that's how the political psychological game is played.
Chavez is a major offender in that game, and his systematic dismantlement of any liberty or free political process in Venezuela accompanied by outlandish reasons for his blatant seizing of total power is so standard and obvious that I have to assume you are fatally naive or purposely ignorant; in the face of the obvious, your lack of insight shows a desire to stick to an "agenda" in spite of the facts.

I do not support Chavez's totalitarian tactics at all. I do believe US's constant interference in other countries is often counter-productive even for US and has previously resulted in serious consequences. Hence, my support for Chavez's point.
