Re: Cash/Debit Card/Credit Card/Check, What R U using most for your daily transactons
About 90 % of my expenditures are paid with ATM or Cash. I write very few checks.
√ Visa for big purchases. It offers good protection in the event that something doesn't work out. It's important to pay the bill ASAP (like, when you receive it !) as opposed to letting it sit on your desk 'till the last minute !
Example - Let's say that you have $500 in your checking acct. and your visa bill is $700. You rush to the bank to deposit a $1500 check into your checking acct so that you have enough funds to pay off your Visa bill. Following the deposit transaction, your checking acct. will "read" as $2,000.00, however, the $1500 check hasn't yet "cleared". Depending on the bank, they'll likely charge you a finance percentage on the $200.00 that your acct was "short" even though the acct. originally reads as $2,000.00 ! The idea is to always keep a balance well above the amount of your bills inside your checking acct. This is how banks make money . . . . off of peoples' ignorance. Do take the time to understand the fine print ! If you don't understand all of the semantics, find out !
I would recommend a Credit Union or Regional Community Bank, all the way ! BTW
The giant corporate banks generally treat us like garbage and find new ways to steal our money.
