Myself and my wife have been thinking about putting a few short scenes together. Haven't had a video camera for ages, only using do short clips of stuff on our phones these days, so a bit out of the loop in terms of what's what. Not looking to buy some high-end, expensive professional porn shoot equipment but equally want something that works reasonably well in an everyday household environment without studio lighting, something where you don't end up with a grainy mess like a few amateur clips. Would probably be set up on a tripod on the edge of the bed and left to run. Any recommendations? Wondered about GoPros as I do a lot of outdoor activities like cycling which I'm interested in filming too but not sure how good they are for indoor stuff like this.

I would suggest you pose this question to a couple of the ocsm's that still hang around. Some might do cam work while all of this covid is going on. They likely have that knowledge, since they use video equipment as part of their jobs.
There's plenty of amateur stuff online where it's clearly just the couple involved. Not saying it's always high quality but there are plenty of scenes where a camera's just been set up on a tripod facing the action. There's also plenty of POV stuff where one person is holding a camera, wearing it on a headstrap etc.
Bumping this as thinking of buying something now and didn't get any camera recommendations first time I posted. Veering towards a GoPro which seems quite versatile. I'm told the only drawback is it's not the most brilliant in low light but I don't think that's a major issue as the house is fairly well lit. Any other recommendations for cameras I should be looking at? Or even phones maybe? I've seen some high quality stuff people have done on iPhones for example.

Recommend you stay at 1080 resolution of you plan on shooting for a long time. (Hour or more) 4k sizes get insanely large and your audience tier probably just bouncing a 720 stream off the devices, anyway.
A few LED lights, here and there but not in the line-of-sight of the camera directly.
GoPro is for outdoor stuff, so yus it's best in sunlight. But cell phones r quite useful. I use pixels and iPhones and the image algorithm on either, as of the last few years is outstanding. Tensor chip from Google and m series on Apple. They're quick. Theyve been upping their camera game over the years while everyone else just throws large megapixel numbers and noh behind the scenes work.
Last generation phones from each should be cheap AF, now.
