:1orglaugh I'm about 13-14 years a (semi-)veggie now, but I know the cravings I sometimes had for meat when I just started. Just walking by a house where someone was preparing meat, sometimes made me drool. I wasn't that well prepared I think. It felt like I was missing something on my plate or bread, and I became veggie because of ethical reasons, not because I didn't like it. Nowadays there are some meat products I just despise and make me puke just thinking about eating them. Even when I liked it a lot so long ago.
Too me the burger is THE symbol of animal abuse. So that's what made me laugh when I read your post: the contrast between veggie and longing for burgers. Especially because I'm assuming it's because of ethical reasons since you posted something about animal abuse in a thread around a month ago. It's very weird. Of course people have to make up their own mind what and what not to eat. But what I'm trying to say is if you really are becoming a veggie because of ethical reasons, you might want to think about what you eat and what not.
Yeah I know, it is all about ethical reasons. My stepdad goes hunting every year for turkey, bear and deer, and he's even shot rabbit and squirrel. I've watched him gut and skin the animals, it was downright horrifying, and he made my siblings and I help cut and grind the meat after he gut the animals, which was the most disgusting smell I could ever imagine. I refuse to ever eat that shit again. Ever. I haven't since I lived with them and I never will as long as I live.
Cows are the only animals mistreated, it's chickens, chicks, pigs, etc. as well. The problem is, I don't eat healthy enough with or without eating meat. I hate most veggies and I rarely buy fruit, so my diet consists of cheese, bread, tortillas, pasta, french fries, a rare salad, and a few other things. That's not healthy. So every so often I am going to indulge in a hot dog or some beef, but like I said, not very often. Maybe once a week, if that.
