Black Friday 2020

While not as big a usual, I had to cringe that there where still many lineups and crowds across the US for Black Friday sales.

And then found out it was happening in Canada too.

Between social distancing and the economic downturn, you'd think they would have avoided BF sales altogether this year, but nope. Apparently it's worth risking your life for a new TV or PS5.

I continued my life-long streak of avoiding Black Friday.

Not too many deals on what I am looking for. Still shopping for knives, machetes, and swords at reasonable prices. I did save 30% on a Whetstone Sharpening Set. I am looking online mainly at Amazon.

Find a small business for Small Business Saturday.

My local news gets a bit confusing. They have stories about local businesses in trouble and we need to spend there. Then, they cover the coronavirus restrictions, tell us how the positivity rate is increasing and tell us to avoid gatherings. [Not to mention the nearby big-city mayor who told people not to gather for Thanksgiving and then flew out of state to visit his family.]

My new favorite toy. Sure had fun in the back yard today. Feel like I can stand next to a mountain and chop it down with the edge of my hand. If the hand fails my TABOR TOOLS GG11A Bypass Lopper with Compound Action will succeed.

Totally!

I'm seeing that too. "Support local businesses!"
And then in the same breath, we see closures and restrictions for small businesses.
Most confusing of all, the big box stores are exempt from the restrictions. I don't know if it's because of size, "essentiality" or political pressure, but whatever the case, they get to skirt the restrictions which are killing the smaller businesses.
I heard that the small business bailout measures (emergency loans/rent extensions/etc) are getting some approval depending on your area, but still, it's an inconsistent message. ,

I unexpectedly scored some Brita filters and a 2021 Sport Illustrated Calendar for half off + no tax! No crowds etc, just curbside pickup, in & out.
And I can honestly say I was probably just as stoked as if I had just gotten a deal on a new TV.

I think one of the keys to enjoying life if savouring the small victories like this as if they are huge wins.
