Ben Stein : "Taxes are too low".

Wow ! The guy is some kinda "Republican God of Economy" and he dares saying, live on TV, on Fox, that taxes are too low !
It takes some serious guts to say this, live, on Fox

How can Republicans still defend Romney's tax plan when Ben Stein himself tells it's not gonna work ?!

Because Ben calls it like he sees it. He's uber-conservative for sure but his common-sense approach to government and the economy is spot-on. He knows Romney's "5-point plan" is smoke-and-mirrors. He makes a lot of valid points. Taxes must go up and spending must go down if we are to do anything about this ridiculous deficit that we are building together.....republican and democrat. Anyone who attempts to deny this has blinders on. We all need to get our wallets out. Pony up, people!

Yep. That's the crux of the problem. All these assholes running for office don't want to tell you the truth....that taxes need to be increased for ALL OF US. Instead, they lie (imagine that!?? a politician telling a lie!!) and tell us what they think we want to hear in order to get our vote. Then, once they're in office again, it's business as usual. No one cares about us and that's the problem. They have higher priorities that they serve.

Ben been saying this for years, but then again they been too low for years so it makes sense.

They are spending too much. Tax and spend Democrats and Republicans.

Taxing more will not help. They need to stop the spending. Also, no more borrowing from communists.

Why we can't tax ourselves out of the deficit problem Link

You weren't bitching when Bush was running up the deficit though

Stein is one of the few conservatives I am actually interested in listening to. Compared to 95% of the current GOP he's a step-and-a-half above all of them.

We do need to increase tax revenue and make some significant budget cuts. I'm not against Romney's comments on PBS, but increasing military spending seems crazy to me.

I was probably as shocked as any GOPer when I ran past fox news and saw that he was saying this

Ben stein is a financial guru

Can you name anyone else who has celebrity like fame due to his aptitude for finances as opposed to music, movies, or sports?

The Zolfster didn't think so.

gives me a little bit of hope

perhaps not all conservatives are as thickheaded as I was made to believe

I wasn't? Bush did bad things too.

But, Obama has increased the size of the federal government, involved us in more unneeded wars, massively increased the deficit, failed stimulus programs, no "shovel ready" jobs, and on and on. He has failed.

Really?

You really believe this?

I'll give ya the deficit part of your statement but everything else smells of right wing propoganda

How soon we forget that 8 years of incompotence by the bush admin(paritcularly dickhead cheney and rumsshits) got us into this mess

we all know destroying somethin takes far less time to do than building something

look at how long it took to build a new world trade center:facepalm:

Sounds like someone got into grandma's medicine cabinet again:rolleyes:

Maybe if Obama appeared on Win Ben Stein's money for a while, he could win enough to fix the deficit. Might have to appear on a few episodes of Jeopardy, too.

How has he increased the size of government if there's been a record decline in government jobs during his presidency?

What "unneeded wars has he involved us in? we're out of Iraq and we're leaving Afghanistan in 2014

I got an idea, why not have a voluntary tax?
you know, if you really care so much you can pay more tax.
get a job, or a second or third job. eat white rice 3 times a day.
stop buying your kids toys and have them play with sticks instead.
get rid of your cel phone and use 2 paper cups tied to thread.
live a lean as possible and give the GOV as much as you can.
NAAAAHHHHHHH! Its just easier having other people besides yourself pay more.

A thread promoting paying more taxes.
what kind of cosmic bunny hole have we fallen into?

^^^This!

Seems like common sense to most people, eh? But I guess the problem these days: common sense ain't all that common.

Agreed.
Of course, those of you who pay no taxes will now have to pay for the services you rely on. You must use privately run toll roads. You must use a privately owned security force, fire department and hospital. Don't think about walking our our sidewalks. You will have to buy a new driver's license from a private firm. At work, you must use your own privately run and financed bathroom...you are not using our tax money for water to take or wash up from taking a piss. Or, you can just piss outside. Just stay away from any publicly owned land. You are also going to have to give up all radio, television and internet. These might not be government owned, but are government regulated. You must find your own privately regulated television, radio and internet. Oh, and don't expect to get any more mail. That goes without saying.
I could go on and list quite a few other things you will no longer be able to do, but I am sure you will fully accept it, since it was your decision to not pay your share of taxes. Whatever. I am sure you will be making enough money to pay for those things via public entities.
Ah, but there is one problem. You are not allowed to use our monetary system. After all. that is federally regulated. Guess you are going to have to get all of this through a barter system.
Have fun!
