RockBand:the Beatles what do you think bad band choice?
Beatles for a Rock band game Yay or Nay? It might sell due to the fact that the avg. gamer today is much older than yesterday. I believe it was at 26 yrs old the last time I read something on it. Being involved with musicianship for a living I know for a fact, and so do my colleagues, that youngsters listen to and want to play the beatles on a real guitar but I dont think that matters.
Any thoughts? My opinion is bad band choice. If you're gonna go classic than stick to Zep,pink floyd,Rush,boston etc. more of hardrock classic shit. The release of Guitar Hero5 this year doesnt help matters for rockband beatles either....

Great band and all but how many people playing GH will be familiar with the set list? I agree should have gone with another band. Rush, Zeppelin, Sabbath, Maiden, would have been possibly better choices. Maybe they are hoping the geriatric folks take a liking to video games.

I dont see it selling to great to be honest. Rock Band is like a poor mans Guitar Hero anyway. GH has a better track record for bands it has used than RB will ever hope to have.

I mean Elvis and Frank Sinatra and Jim Reeves and Johnny Cash and Gary Glitter and Marc Bolan [from T-Rex] and John Lennon were a good chunk of my childhood due to my parents listening to them. But I wont buy games on them if they come out.

RB2 & GHWT have 20 of the same songs thats a 1/4 of the playlist on the disc.
plus RB1 songs can be added to RB2
plus all the free songs they give you
that gives you about 175 songs on Rock band.
plus about 500-600 downloadable content songs on RB
compared to about 150 on GHWT
As for pop I've downloaded Pearljam, Nirvana, Foo Fighters, System of a Down, White Zombie and Iron Maiden
But sometimes my Mrs likes to sing so then the Greenday, The who & No Doubt
comes in handy.
Ok you can download user created songs on GHWT but playing old Nintendo tunes gets old very quickly

I should be ashamed for forgetting about this.......To make matters worse for this game,guitar hero Van Halen lands soon. When you think of guitarhero/rock band games you gotta think Van Halen. Even the young kids now that he Eddie was a pioneer of rock guitar and prob the first person ever called a "guitar hero".
Much,Much respect for the Beatles musicianship,like I said thats my career,but the guitar isnt spotlighted in their songs like a band you would want to have a "guitar hero" game for. I play their stuff and 90% of it is all basic guitar playing,that said the only thing making these songs challenging is amping the speed up for songs that arent very technical.
I know its about the music and not how hard the game is but Im looking at this from a youngsters perspective and most youngsters want to Rock heavy and they want a challenge....

I've got respect for the beatles for what they gave to music as a whole, but beyond that I don't want them in a fucking game! Their stuff should have been DLC. We should have gotten RB3 instead of RB:TB. Fuckin lame choice for a band only game IMHO as well.

Keep in mind that the majority of the people who play Rock Band are casual players, not hardcore like you or I may be. It makes pretty solid sense why they launched this first, if for no other reason then to market to them.

I know most are casual players. I'm slowing down to more of a casual pace with this game myself. Course there hasn't been anything to get excited about from the DLC as of late. But I still think they should have made a beatles album as DLC.

I agree with you both.......there is more of a market with casual players for music games which obviously had to be the thinking here with The beatles and could possible have the thing sell very well. However,I agree with Legzman about having this as a greatest hits album DLC or some shit.
To have a dedicated disc to the beatles.....ehhhh I dont know??? This goes back to my point about people wanting to rock as a "guitar hero" with more insane riffs rather than playing stuff thats more "band as a whole" music. I know the game is called Rock Band but theres very little to get excited about from a guitar standpoint with the Beatles music and all the other instruments for that matter.

I agree I think Beatles are out of date to the majority gaming public.
But I think Van Halen are no more relevant outside of the US.
I would rather see games based on genres or decades.
You could play thru the history of metal/rock/punk/emo etc.

......May sound Cliche.....but i would Absolutly love Guitar hero/Rockband Blink 182.........it would be easy for Guitar(besides M+M's) and bass(Carousel would be fun).......but Drums on Expert would be hard as hell (always would be the last song cuz it's like impossible lol)

Most likely I will not be picking this one up. I might pick up Van Halen at a later reduced date. I would love to see a Queen Guitar Hero game though.
