Batman 3 Gets New Title

Simple but effective

Not happy to hear there will be no Riddler :crying:

I do not question the brilliance of Mr. Nolan.

Another good development---NO 3D BULLSHIT!!

The Dark Knight Rises? Seriously? People actually get paid to come up with these titles too.

So if the riddler is ruled out then who does that leave? Nolan wouldn't use villains that border on sci-fi like Mr. Freeze and Croc. I guess that leaves the penguin. Booooring!

Generic and uninteresting title. They should be ashamed.

^ Yeah causes Batman Begins and Dark Knight were so ground breaking as titles.
I kinda liked those titles. "Dark Knight Rises" sounds more like a subtitle. It suggests that the movie is trying to live up to the one before it.

:dunno: The change in the title doesn't seem to be that important to me. I hope they didn't have to pay somebody a lot of money to think of that. I can see some marketing firm somewhere thinking it a great idea from wherever they get their ideas from.

Chris Nolan has said years ago that he wouldn't use Penguin for the exact reason that you stated on why he wouldn't use Mr. Freeze or Killer Croc.
:thefinger Well, my point, asshole, is that it sounds too much like the title of the last movie, which was a weak title itself. Batman Begins made sense because that's what it was.

Gordan's monologue at the end of The Dark Knight gave the reason for the title to make sense. It's who Batman is.

As far as The Dark Knight Rises, it's not that bad of a title. I probably would have used one of the graphic novel titles, Batman: Dark Victory or Batman: Knightfall.

Wow, you guys really care that much about the title? How about we decide if the title was good or not once we finish watching the movie? :)

It's Chris Nolan for pete's sake...let's not criticize before we see and evaluate the goods. He's such a great director, he deserves at least that much right?

Who gives a shit what the title is? So you won't see the movie just because the title is not creative enough? The Dark Knight wasn't a great title but the movie itself as awesome.

To be honest I don't really care what Nolan named the movie. He could have named it Batman and the Wonderful Tea Party with the Mad Hatter and I still would watch it. As long as it lives up to the last two I'm game.

Somehow I have a feeling you said the same thing when he decided to make "Batman the Dark Knight".

The name of the movie should be Batman: Redemption
The villain should be the Gotham police with the woman who would be catwoman playing some part but not as a major villain.

Hell no.

I waited in line for 5 hours to see the Batman movie with Michael Keaton. I know my batman shit.

The Dark Knight was the conclusion of that batman story. I said no such thing after Batman Begins because it wasn't a conclusion.

Who the funk said that movies had to be trilogies? Oh yeah, the major studios who don't give a funk about a movie only the $$$$.

Let it go NOLAN. I know you troll freeones all day long and will read this.

DO NOT MAKE IT! PLEASE!

Figured "The Dark Knight" was going to remain in the title, and "The Dark Knight Rises" is indeed a pretty shoddy title, but it wasn't completely unexpected.

Guess "The Dark Knight Returns" was off the table? :D

As far as the Riddler goes, I'm kinda disappointed with that decision, but apparently the Riddler just wasn't going to work with the story the Nolans want to tell. Aside from that, I personally enjoyed how the History Channel's documentary, "Batman Unmasked" likened the Riddler to Ted Bundy. But more in the notion of both having incredibly narcissistic personalities, with an insatiable craving for attention. Also, Riddler would also have served as a huge cerebral twist magnet, and thus testing the skills of the Dark Knight detective ...

Oh well. :spin:

He promises not to make it if you kill yourself....
....of course then you would never know if he kept his promise. A paradox.

umm...It is

It also suggests that because of TDK's success, "The Dark Knight" had to be in the title again.

So when the inevitable reboot happens, "The Dark Knight Begins" will likely be a title candidate. ;)
