Attention All Freeones Members!!

Sorry for the message to take so long..

This is impotant information for any Freeones members who have a facebook profile. If so I advise you too delete the account and boycott facebook completely. As most of you have probably heard, facebook (nothing compared to freeones) has been sabotaging it's members by having full access over the members private stuff. When I heard about this news this morning I shortly realized something that a saw a while ago on facebook. I believe they stole our very own OSCM Jayden Jaymes picture and used it for an advertisement. Yes that's right ''The Jayden Jaymes". The advertise said something to the effect that Jayden had a kid and I want to say it was for dating purposes. Now unless Jayden gave her consent for them to use her picture it would be different, Which I highly doubt. I could be overating but I know I saw this. Jayden I would bring on a lawsuit if I was you.

As much as I dislike online social sites like Facebook and MySpace, I wouldn't jump and say that they stole her images quite that fast. For one, they could've asked her before posting her pictures. Also, don't those sites have some sort of clause that says that they can use content posted on their site for advertising purposes without giving out compensation to the owner of the content? I might be full of shit on that, but I'm sure I've read something like that somewhere.

Well the only thing is there is news coming out today that facebook is different from the rest of the social sites such as twitter and myspace etc. It causes people to be outraged. I guess we won't find out until Jayden get's back on.

I didn't read the whole thing, but I think it's something to do with Facebook having partial rights to whatever you post on their site. Like I said, though, I might be full of shit.

from what I heard they pretty much had full rights and access to anything you post. but who cares?

Conspiracy...
What about the other journal sites, or is this just Facebook?

I'd sue Facebook too, if they used something against my consent.

yes i believe this is true

facebook sucks any way but if you care read this,

Now, anything you upload to Facebook can be used by Facebook in any way they deem fit, forever, no matter what you do later.* Want to close your account? Good for you, but Facebook still has the right to do whatever it wants with your old content. They can even sublicense it if they want.

Last night on MSM, forget which channel, Facefuck changed it's policy due to major public outcry...now, content is supposed to be private and property of poster.
Yeah, right.
'Til next time they change the policy ?

OMG, rack this up with the Google scenario (saving searches)... It's the internet, anything you post, can and will be used by you, and 2 million other people out there. So, I wouldn't worry about my ugly mug on facebook, or myspace, or crapzilla, or whatever is next. Give it 2 more years and I bet facebook spirals down just like hotornot, and myspace have.

Joys of the internet I guess. Freedom of information no one owns anything, with copyright blurred bad. I use facebook quite a bit to stay in touch with friends overseas. I dont even think about the ownership and all that jazz when I go on there anyway. Technially, whilst they do own stuff put up on their site, photos for example you would still have a good position to argue if they ever used something of yours that you deemed inappropriate. Thats how I see it anyway. Cant get too caught up on it.

So they give in to what the public asks for, and that's still not good enough? I thought that was the point of voicing public opinion, was to get things changed. It worked, so why continue to complain about it?

If it happens again, we can voice opinion again, or if need be, everyone can dump the site. Obviously, facebook's operators learned a little lesson here, and I'm sure they don't want members leaving in droves.

Of course one could make the argument that the situation is similar in a metaphorical sense to just punishing a thief by only making him give the stuff back he stole. If he doesn't get caught he makes out big and if he does then so what, he was no worse than before if any added deterrent isn't added on.

I hate facebook, you always think people are watching you, and most of the time they are.

I've heard from so many people about them using my pics.
If they're professional pictures, I've signed release forms and I have no control over it... that would be up to the company that shot it.
If they're my PERSONAL pics, there's a problem... I'll get my attorney on it.
If you see another ad, PLEASE TAKE A PICTURE OF IT OR A SCREEN SHOT!!! I need to see them!!!
Thanks! :)

The point is that they changed the policy, thus having legal right to use your stuff to make money, or whatever. No legal process needed, they just post "this is our policy".
Then, they changed the policy when people got all up in their faces.
So, later they can change the policy in a less visible way and still be legally in possession of your posted material. Nothing has changed in that regard, and why would anyone feel like it has?
I would never post anything on the net that was me, or my property, without copyright protection, in case I found it being used unauthorized.
Needless to say, I don't have a Facebook account.
Post a video on YouTube, and yore Momma may see you humping the family dog on CNN.
