Attempt to give possitive rep gave negative instead

For some reason, when I tried to give luis1972 some positive rep for this post, it gave me the message about giving negative rep and my control panel says it was negative rep. I don't know what happened, but I was wondering if someone could turn the negative, into the intended positive, please?
