Are home laser hair removal devices safe to use on pubic hair?

I want to remove my pubic hair permanently, so I was thinking of getting the hair lasered off. But it seems like they sell home laser hair removal devices on Amazon where you can do it yourself. It's only around $70 or so. Seems very cheap compared to having it professionally done. Any caveats I should be aware of? Is it dangerous to do it yourself, especially on the pubes?
