Anyone feel that European pornstars could probably be models in the usa?

Does anyone feel this way? You have so many very good pornstars from europe such as suzie diamond, julia taylor, cynthia vellons, rachel evans, carla cox etc. Most of these women are just very good looking and they did porn. I feel like if these women lived in the usa, they could probably be models and not subject themselves to porn. Obviously most of them aren't tall enough to be like those victoria secret model b/c those usually are women between 5'9 and 5'11. But still you see lot of very good looking models that are a bit shorter than that. Suzie Diamond is 5'11 and in my opinion would easily be chosen as a victoria secret model.

I mean if you look at the best looking american pornstars, I would say a good majority of them wouldn't even be chosen as a top model. I mean, most of them dont look that good and even if they do, such as katie jordin or victoria lawson, they just dont have that look in them. Kayden Kross to me would fit the description of a playboy bunny.

Is there a reason why so many european pornstars do porn instead of just modeling in europe? Is it b/c they wouldn't be able to earn enough money just doing regular modeling? I mean look at the very good looking models in the usa and many of them do very well for themselves. And the ones that do go and do porn though... they are not as good looking as those who do modeling. But i assume in european countries, its not enough money and thats why they do porn instead? I can't fathom a very good looking woman go i want to do porn if they could do just modeling and thats enough for them?

Well, if Kate Upton can manage it being ugly, overweight and average at BEST (she doesn't even look attractive at all) then these lot would have NO problems at all.

wow, where to begin...

first off, it's not uncommon for aspiring models earn very little money, and there are often up-front costs (travel expenses, the cost of shared apartments in NYC, etc) that are paid for by the aspiring model's parents or forwarded by the agency. In the latter scenario that money needs to be reapid. Either way, modeling is a cost-intensive and heavily competitive field to break into. Second, one could make the argument that modeling can be quite psychologically damaging for young girls, in that brutal criticism of appearance and weight is par for the course in mainstream modeling. It's often a lonely and isolating field and for every supermodel that banks and builds an amazing career there are tons more who barely make anything, particularly in light of the high costs of living in most fashion industry meccas like New York. Honestly, were I a parent of a young daughter who was scouted I would try my best to talk her out of pursuing mainstream modeling. I'm sure some benefit from pursuing modeling, but there are risks to physical and emotional health involved as well. The glamorous façade is just that, a façade.

I think you and I share a taste for classically beautiful women (for me Skin Diamond is a perfect example of extraordinary beauty), but I don't know how to take the "not subject themselves to porn" comment. If you feel it's inherently detrimental to women to appear in porn maybe ethically you shouldn't watch it?

"Subject themselves to porn." Sure. Is it that hard to believe that there are plenty of attractive girls that think "I love fucking and I love money. If I can get into fucking for money, I will."

I agree with you on Skin 100%, but you know sometimes circumstances conspire to make you laugh?

That's just unfortunate.

On top of adult modeling, I do regular modeling on the side. You don't have to be with an agency or scouted out to be a model, and most models aren't supermodels. We do smaller jobs with lesser known photographers. I've worked with something like 40 photographers so far in the 3 years I've been modeling, and have made plenty of money from it, I've gotten into Penthouse with my adult modeling, been in online magazines, and I travel all over NY for shoots. The traveling doesn't cost much at all with the subway system, it's just time consuming depending on where the shoot is.

And like MrSStiffy says, it's not about subjecting our bodies to porn, it's about doing what we enjoy. And Quinn is right, the glamour of modeling is just a facade. It's not at all like what you see on TV shows like America's Next Top Model, Project Runway, and the annual Victoria's Secret Fashion Show. Underneath all the post production retouching, makeup, hair styling, and good looks is a load of hard work. Dieting, taking care of your skin, finding out that some photographers are complete creeps, feeling sore the next day from holding awkward poses, rushing around the city trying not to get lost, showing up to the shoot to find yourself in a dingy, smelly, dirty apartment, scouting locations to shoot, and many people within the industry are stuck up egotistical divas. And modeling isn't all about appearances. It's more than that. I've worked with other models before (modeling with them and doing their makeup), and I've talked with a number of photographers who have told me about their experiences with other models. Many models, no matter how attractive they are, have absolutely no clue what they're doing. They'll give deer-in-deadlights looks, have to be directed for every single pose, get on set with the camera ready to snap pictures and the model just stands there and says, "What do you want me to do?" To be a model, you have to know what the hell you're doing, you have to know the right angles for your face and body, you need to be diverse, emote, know what looks good and what looks bad. The reason many models aren't as attractive as lots of other girls (non-models) are is because those less attractive women know what the hell they're doing. They get the job done. You can be the most gorgeous woman on the face of the earth, but if you don't know HOW to model, people won't book you.

EDIT: What's more, girls that get into porn get into it because they're used to being sexy, looking sexy, and acting sexy. Modeling isn't all about being or looking sexy, so if all a girl can do is sexy, then she is absolutely not going to book fashion work. She won't get hired, or if she does get hired then once she shows up and starts modeling, the photographers and clients will be frustrated and disappointed and she will not be successful.
