Anyone else tired of political ads?

Non-stop blah, blah, blah. All say the same thing and if you ask me a bunch of horseshit. I didn't vote for that, my opponent did.....arrggghhh!!

Personally, I think both parties suck!

They all suck, they say anything that they think will get you to vote for them. Then after they get in the power and/or corruptions gets to them and they ultimately go about trying doing anything to hold on to their position rather than serving the public. No decent politicians left.

Personally, I think political ads should stick to the issues. Every politician should just point out what makes them different than their opponent without having to attack them every Chance they get.

Political ads should be outlawed - only way to get the word out on candidates is townhall debates.

Its too easy on voters and too easy to corrupt the system with corporate (funded) interests.

Townhall debates eliminates "campaign financing" 3rd rail

Member, you member...
They only appear when there's an election upcoming - so, they are not on everyday.
Still, most are lame and really don't influence me.

advertising of ALL kinds have become increasingly annoying and a nuisance to every day life. You cant go anywhere without seeing or hearing something that is telling you to BUY something...

this is just creeeepy...

Turns to dictatorship, you'll get rid of politics since what you think will mean nothing and if you dare say that the leader is wrong, you'll be shot...

Both American mainstream parties are totally corrupt.

Until you reform campaign financing you'll never get your democracy back.

Why save the world, when you can rule it?
I hate it when all they do is bitch about each other.
My local (Cambridge) Labour councellor came to canvas my area recently, I asked her what the labour party would do for us and she was very unspecific but very quick to argue that the previous councellor had neglected us, without saying anything specific about how he had nelected us, of course.
As it happens, the previous councellor was rather active in fighting to represent our issues.
When they just bitch about each other they might as well be saying:
"Don't vote for me, I haven't got a clue what needs to be done and I don't care; I just want POWER!"

I get tired of how everywhere I drive, I see billboard after billboard after billboard advertising what this candidate's economics could mean for my dog, how their plans for education mean to eliminate lunch and recess for kids, or how their personal history is better than their opposition because even though they both are mad cocaine fiends, one's never been busted with the stuff.

Driving down a street now is like a goddamn Flintstones cartoon.

Did we really ever have a TRUE democracy ?

No, and that's by design. A pure democracy in the United States would fail at a level that the world has never seen before. Not to mention it'd be a direct violation of the Constitution.

My personal pet peeve with the ads is the tagline, "I'm not a politician". You're running for political office you dipshit! You're a politician by definition!

Too easy on voters? If voters are that lazy and apathetic that they vote based only on what they see in ads, don't they deserve what they get?

Voters get what they elect. The quality of the representative is just that, representative of the masses.

Anyway, I realized that I haven't actually turned on the TV in over a week now. I get my news from various sites and papers, so I haven't even seen any of these ads yet.

I just hate the ads, because as said before, all they do is say "My opponent is bad." And they make generic threats.

Them: Vote for X and the economy will be destroyed.
Me: Why's that?
Them: Because... You're a voter stop asking questions.

I am constantly E-mailing and calling my representatives and local politicians asking them questions.

Most of them won't even take my calls anymore.

Did you know that you are also not in a Capitalist society? EG: the joint strike fighter program was given government funding and the participants were prevented from overextending their finances and bankrupting themselves. That's not free market.

Maybe you should become a politician since you actually seem to care about the issues. Tell everybody to vote for you. At least you show an interest - the candidates just seem to be interested in slagging off their opponents.
