Anybody here involved in any kind of martial arts?

I`ve been taking Muay Thai for over 8 years and started studying Brazillian Jiu-Jitsu for about a year and a half and i think studying these has been one of the best things i have ever done for my physical and mental well being and just wanted to know if any other members have studied different styles and what you`re thoughts were on martial arts and what styles are out there.

I have been taking kempo for about 5 years. I think it's excellent. I am in better shape than most of my friends. I think the workouts are amazing that we get in class and the material can all be applied well. I have been to several schools. Unfortunately, from what I have seen, most are just in it for the money. The first school I went to allowed me to have my next belt before even learning all the necessary material. The sensei was also an old drunk. However, now I go to an excellent school with an emphasis on application of material. I am sorry for droning on about my skills haha.

Oh, and btw, I am soon going to have enough material to make it onto the black belt test.

I wrestled for 12 years (folkstyle not that WWF shit). I would consider it to be the worlds oldest form of martial art.

i have been practising aikido during three years but i stopped due to to heavy courses at school. it helped me a lot. i have seen a change in me. good for mental. it is not a question of competition like in jujitsu or karate.I really liked it and i will start again if i find the time.

that has nothing to do with time i am surfing on porn. the last 4 years i studied hard from 8am to 6pm when going at shcool and the evening when i returned home i was studying and revising courses from 7pm to 1am. I think not everybody has such charged schedules when they were students.

I was just thinking about your statement you are surfing 45min to 3 or 4 hours everyday for porn depending what you are looking for and your post frequency of 25 postings per day. I'm sorry if my suggestion didn't help, I don't know about your other activities and priorities so no more suggestions:dunno:

bibo:

Martial Arts thread

Well, myself & Cabey were talking in PMs about martial arts. Since he brought the idea up, I'll give him credit for this thread as well.

Here we'll post up mythology, ancestry, weapons, and everything else connected to the martial arts I guess. Even those martial arts actors and the stunts they do. Or which movies are good to watch.

Karate,Judo,Aikido & Jujitsu for 10 years, move to a new town took Tae Kwon Do & Hapkido for the last 14 years. The first four were from an old Japanese dude that beat you with a Shinai if you did anything wrong...hurt like hell but you learnt fast.

Anyone know good schools somewhere in London for MA? I'd prefer JKD cause haven't done anything in a while and IMHO its the best all-round technique

I have the firm believe that it's not the martial art, it's the martial artist. As for me, I practice Aikido and some Tae Kwon Do. I especially like Aikido better and if I were to be in a situation where I'd have to defend myself I'd use some of those techniques just to subdue an attacker, avoid hurting him seriously, and therefore avoid lawsuits! :p

I have always thought that studying a type of martial art was unproductive. I incorporate anything and everything that works. So I don't have a style I go by although I do tend to focus more on practical although not necessarily un-complex things, so no roundhouse kicks (sorry Chuck Norris). I am mostly self-taught with a few other people. I think it is also important to learn to fight with bladed weapons, something a lot of other people don't think about, along with other weapons I learn to work with like firearms and even chain and batons, among other things.
