Any ColecoVision Fans?

ColecoVision was a video game system from the early 1980s that came after the Atari 2600 and Intellevision but before the NES and Sega Master System. It appealed to a lot of fans of arcade games that wanted that quality arcade experience at home. It came packed with Donkey Kong.

A company called CollectorVision has made and FPGA console model for the ColecoVision that also has a core for Atari 2600 games.

I have a working Colecovision console and 18 cartridges along with multiple controllers including the driving set. I've also got an Adam, but sadly no power supply for it so I don't know if it still works.

I played a version of this at a retro collector's house. I remember games like pacman, breakout and Zaxxon (I think that's how it was spelled? There was also a Empire strikes back game were you fought an endless parade of Imperial Walkers.

Growing up I never even knew anybody that had one. Heck, I didn't even know where you could possibly buy the system at. Even the large catalogs of the day never seemed to have anything for the system.

Zaxxon was one of my favorite ColecoVision games. Donkey Kong, Donkey Kong Jr, Frenzy, Venture, Cosmic Avenger, Defender, Choplifter, Burgertime. Lady Bug, Mouse Trap, and Spy Hunter are some other great ColecoVision games.

I never understood the differences between the ataris & colecovisions. I thought they were all the same system.
I guess you had to have grown up with them to understand?

I never played it but would like to. If I ever see one of those remake console things on the cheap, I'll grab one.

After going back and forth in my head the yays won over the nays. I bought the CollectorVision. I know it's a lot of money at $200 but I just have to have it. I loved my ColecoVision when I was a kid. I got the ColecoVision AtariMax rom set and plan on playing games off an SD Card. It'll play my Atari 2600 rom set too.

200 bucks for that kind of thrill and nostalgia is well worth it, if you ask me. Enjoy it!
