For one, there is no final bill and if you think the issues are being demagogued and misrepresented now...no bill would ever be able to be passed after the spinners and liars got through.

The POTUS can't even address school kids without someone getting wind of what he's going to say and creating fictions from thin air then airheads come on FOs laying out talking points they've swallowed hook, line and sinker and linking to links which say exactly nothing about their argument.

You think all the *RAGE* and SCREAMFEST TOWNHALLS constitutes "discussing" an issue? Really?

Most Americans want healthcare reform. Most Americans either can't afford healthcare today or won't be able to afford healthcare if the Republicans get their way in about 3 years anyway....

Why can't we DO SOMETHING NOW, evaluate it, and then decide if it sucks? Isn't that a reasonable way to determine whether or not something works? Right now, all we get are Republicans in fullthroated scream mode about SOCIALIZED MEDICINE when we have our military using socialized medicine and Medicare being a gov't-managed health plan (that all people over 65 want, but yet we haven't funded).

The recent hospitals I've seen all look like upscale hotels. Marble floors, flatscreens everywhere, hardwood floors in patient rooms, technology beeping nonstop. All of these things are not necessary for healthcare, do nothing for patient outcomes, and factor into why insurance rates increase. People are essentially paying for hospitals to remodel and look like spas and hotels. That seems like a waste to me.

The time for fearing people into submission and "doing nothing" is over. We need to get something done, and we can't be babies about paying for it.

And every program the government runs goes over-cost... here's a newsflash people: The US is bankrupt.

I'd actually be all for providing healhcare for all citizens in some form, IF the US government would can all the waste, abolish all of the unconstitutional "programs", come up with a way to pay off the debt, and pass a balanced budget amendment.

But I have a better chance of winning the lottery than that happening...

There's always welfare, with the medical provided.
If we are all supposed to give it up because some people live beyond their means and suddenly need what others have, through planning and paying for it, you are definitely drinking more than you should be.

Wow, bailing out rich bankers and wealthy industrialists (that have lived and worked beyond their means without having planned ahead) via the taxes and levies system (which means out of the average guy's pocket) is fine, but medically bailing out a teacher that has lost his job isn't, because you as a neo-con could be forced to pay five cents more a month to support an allegedly socialist-fascist-communist-nationalsocialist public healthcare system?

Believe it or not Philbert but some people just don't have the financial means to plan ahead (especially during a big economic crisis). They have bills to pay and other unimportant stuff like a family to feed.

Ofcourse you're now going to say that if you can do it so can they. It's always sooooo easy when it doesn't happen to you. Your comment also illustrates why nothing will change in America. For a large number of people it's always me me me me me and screw the rest. I don't want others to have this or that so I'm going to do my best to make sure they don't get it. I don't care what happened to them, me me me me me!

No that's not possible because my brother was the sole bread winner of his household while his wife is only a homemaker. Since he re-enrolled at a community college, he might be able to get student health care but I don't know if that will also cover his wife and kids but I'll tell him to look into it especially since its the beginning of the flu season
