American Apparel & Pornstars

Am I the only one who is just now discovering that American Apparel hires pornstars to model their clothing?

If you visit American Apparel's website and check out their models page, Charlotte Stokely and Faye Valentine/Reagan are both listed as models (named Britney And Jillian, respectively). A quick glance around the internet also pulls up a few articles on how Lauren Phoenix models their tube socks.

Anyway, I was interested to know if anyone knew more about this.

I guess the owner of the company got tired of getting turned down by the models he sexually harasses, so he hired girls who are sure things.

I never really like any of their stuff, but at least the last I checked, which has been quite a while, they still make their clothing in this country. That's a lot more than I can say for a lot of clothing manufactures.

I don't know much about the pornstars, but the CEO Dov Charney is a genius IMO, and his company is a boon to the US. However, his office ethics are atrocious and he has been sued several times for sexual harassment. He's extremely open about his sexuality and unfortunately this creates an unhealthy work environment for some.

I have to be honest he sounds like a bit of a sleeze ball. But I guess he's doing something right. :dunno:

Oh for sure he's a sleaze ball. But the nuts and bolts of how he actually runs the company are impressive. He was actually born a Canadian but has built American Apparel up into one of the premiere "Made in USA" labels all while beating out established competitors who have long since cut costs by sending their manufacturing overseas. His business model is one I hope many will imitate.

Well, it would definately make me want to look at their ads more. Not a bad idea at all. I am a fan of all three of them too so it is definately good :).

Me neither, but then again, the company probably isn't well known outside of the US (maybe North-America), so it's not something to be ashamed of.
