With Detroit being a euphemism for the American auto industry, even those companies not headquartered in Detroit (Dearborn, anyone?), this "Obama saved Detroit" claim has nothing to do with the city itself. And those with an I.Q. above the wattage of a dim light bulb know that. And yeah, he did save Detroit - although I'll give W. Bush some credit as well. The people who were in favor of letting GM go into Chapter 7 liquidation have no idea of the devastating affect that would have had on the supplier base all across the United States. This alone would have likely taken us into a full blown deflationary depression.
The city of Detroit has been fucked up for years and will be fucked up for years. But the American auto industry is hitting on all 8 cylinders again. And for those of us who actually care about the health of our nation and its economy, that's a good thing. Thank you, Mr. Obama. And fuck you, Mitt Romney. So many of the tighty righties hoped and prayed for the failure of the Republic just because Obama was the President. So I say, fuck them too. :thefinger
