A very sad day for music

It's a dark day for music. One of the finest musicians and song writers to ever grace music, a phenomenal bass player, and the man that made me want to play the bass...who inspired me to pick one up, has passed away from cancer at 67 years of age. One of the founding fathers of the progressive rock band "Yes", and the only man to play on EVERY studio album they have ever put out. My he rest in peace.

Yeas has so many great songs, and I realize that most of them are very long, but it's a shame the limited amount of songs they do play from their catalog. This was the first real rock band I ever listened to. I knew all of the words to Roundabout, when I was 12 years old. I can't even begin to think about how many times I've listened to their albums...then tapes, and now CD's...I bought them all at least once, some 3 times, and I've seen them in concert 4 times, the last one being just a few monthes ago. What a great show. Fragile and Close To The Edge, back to back.

Sad news indeed! I started listening to a couple tracks from YES at the time they released "Owner Of A Lonely Heart", which blew my mind.

These are the years when one after the other of the guys who grew big in the sixties and made our world of music what it is and left a legacy of music that stands the test of time.

It is great that we will always have their music and that is more than the generation before them has, it would be great if there were way more high-class records of Robert Johnson and Muddy Waters, as an example.

You're right, it would be nice to be able to get some of the really old music like that nowadays. Some of the original blues men...the guys that wrote the book, and played acoustic guitars, and maybe had a guy playing harmonica with them, shaped the way MOST of the British invasion bands. The Stones, Beatles, hell Led Zeppelin out right stole some of it.
