Yea, the US being compared with EU countries on violent deaths is like comparing apples to oranges. The only similarity is they're both a fruit.

When a violent death happens here in the NL, it's on the news because it just doesn't happen often. People die from misdiagnosed cancer more here than from violence.

On the upside though, I know the US has to be ahead of apologizing for the Indians, slavery, and every other world incident, being politically correct, letting the minority/religious nut jobs run everything and letting the government completely erode everything the country was founded upon.

I don't thing the guns themselves are the problems, it's the idiots out there that are allowed to have them and the even more idiotic legislation that prevents the good guys from having them but does nothing to stop the nutcases and bad guys from shooting people with them.

Plus, I think when it comes down to it, it's just really hard to compare a country that has a HUGE population with a country that maybe has half, if that.

And when all else fails, we can blame the brits for the problem since in the end, it was because of how they treated those in the US that made sure that the 2nd amendment made it into the constitution. ;-) But don't worry, I'm sure we've apologized to the brits for it in some way. We've apologized for about everything else.

In fact, anyone with half a mind would have been able to see that, mysteriously, gun deaths in the U.S. was only behind one country with the most murders. Think he would have caught that, had he actually read his own stats.

Unfortunately, more and more laws are being made on behalf of the gun nutjobs.
Let's take Florida's Stand Your Ground law. It might have good intentions - gun use is excusable when the person is threatened, but it is highly tilted in favor of nutjobs such as George Zimmerman, some cunt who said he had a right to shoot an unarmed teen because he felt threatened - even though said teen was walking away from him and talking on the phone. Since the law has gone into affect, "justified" shootings have tripled, with some doozies of reasons (a drunk mistakenly trying to enter the wrong house, a bar fight, a gang fight).
