Apparently the prisoners have to pay a weekly fee for use of a T.V. and they're not funded by taxpayer money, so it's not so much of a travesty if you think about it.

How dare they extend the glorious right to practice capitalism to these prisoners! What's next, merging the men and women's jails so they can stop being gays and practice being heterosexual just like God intended? Bah!

No worries, sodomy is still accommodated. :hatsoff:

It doesn't matter how the SPS (Scottish Prison Service) tries to sugar coat it, it is still a travesty, my friend. I mean the best they should have is a 12 inch black and white tv in the main lazing about area. So they have to end up shanking each other over who is watching Eastenders or Coronation Street.

That would cut down on the over crowding. Problem solved.

Banned?
I'm quite happy about this. They gave me this laptop so I could talk to you guys while I'm inside, so it's only fair to give me a TV as well.

That is alot of license plates to make to watch television.

You just can't make this shit up. I said in another thread that jail is a holiday home.

And every day that passes proves me right.
And theiur holidays are paid by us, taxpayers...

Honest citizens pay for thieves, rapists and murderers to have comfortable vacations.

I miss the time when prionners lived in empty cells with a cup of dirty water and a slice of old bread as their daily meal.

Indeed. This is true.

They need to be put to work and made do things like in chain gang style operations. Dig ditches, build fences, pave back roads, etc. Work rather than sit in a nice warm cell with three hot meals a day. And never having to worry about having a roof over their heads. Give back to society, earn their keep. But none of this will happen, at least not in the UK anyway. Because the bastards will just claim their human rights are being violated in such working conditions and they will sue the prison service. And win. This is what it would be like here in Scotland and all over the rest of the UK.

I'm glad prison is serving out punishment by the handing out of flat screen TVs. I hope they make sure to order the movie channel package.

 Oh, what's the use? I may as well participate in the blind outrage without ascertaining the details, just like everybody else....

:cussing: Damn them! Using the taxpayer money to give prisoners flat screens?!! Those socialists monkeys!!

If you ask me, it does create an incentive for inmates to labor in order to earn wages to pay for these television privileges. It may even lead to a decrease in prison violence. Don't mind me though, I'm probably just naive....:shy:

Along with there computers, and game consoles, they've got it made. It's probably the reason people reoffend, it easier to live in a warm room, with Tv's, computers, and everything else rather than living on the streets, in freezing conditions, begging for food and money.

There's obviously a lot more do it than that, but it's probably a good percentage of the reason.

Can I give you conjugal visits? ;)

Give them a reasonable meal I say, but flatscreen TVs? Fucking ridiculous. Give them books. Allow them to sign up to the OU and perhaps make something of their lives. But frankly they get way too much. Especially when they were paid for being released early.

The way I look at it is they should be put to work for their wages regardless of what size of TV they get as a reward.

The reward they deserve is three meals a day and a roof over their heads. Not treated better than the homeless people who would have an excuse for doing crime, but don't. So homeless people are better than those in jail. Because most of them don't do crime even in the postion they are in.

Jail these days is like Butlins.
