100 Years Ago, U.S. Enters WWI: "Over the Top" - a phrase is born.

Rey C.

Racing is life... anything else is just waiting.
Sitting here on this beautiful, sunny Memorial Day, I'm trying to imagine what my great uncle went through exactly 100 years ago in France. What was he thinking? I'm trying to imagine what it would take for a man to climb to the top of a trench and run toward a clattering, enemy machine ***... as he watched those around him drop and die. I'm finding it very hard to get my head around that.

No need to say more, or I'll begin making social or political comparisons between the people of that time and the people of today. Best to just say, to the American veterans of all wars and conflicts, thank you for your service. Some went because they had to. Some went because they wanted to. However they found themselves in harm's way, thanks. :hatsoff:
