  • agreed on Magnolia, though the second time I watched it, I think I enjoyed it a bit more. Its pretty progressive but dang I like to think of my self as progessive and it still went over my head lol.

    No Country and TWBB are two very well done movies. Its a shame they came out at the same time cos they both would have won Best Picture if they were out different years. TWBB is still my favourite between the two and most likely because of how strong a performance Daniel Day did.

    Of course, Chugar from No Country is still possibly my favourite character from that year, simply cos he's so psychotic he reminds me of my second girlfriend :) damn she was crazy...but damn good lookin too!
    thanks grimey, yeah that movie is just awesome. was reading about how kubrick influences a lot of Paul Thomas Anderson's work and the end scene with Daniel Plainview beating the Preacher with the bowling pin is kind of an homage to Kubrick. I look at it and can see similarities between the human killing for the first time in 2001 and the lady getting beaten to death by the penis statue in clockwork orange.
