Trump would've beaten Obama in '12

Who knows?

In hindsight, as bummed out as I was in 2012 when Romney lost, I am glad he did or else Trump wouldn't be in the picture.

Trump didn't win the election so much as Hillary lost the election because of Weinergate, and lying about the emails.
If she hadn't deleted the emails and come clean, she could have been forgiven and it wouldn't have had so much effect on the election, and Weinergate wouldn't have been the final nail on her chances of winning.
It's that simple and stupid, if she didn't have an email server, she would have been elected president.
There are countless times throughout history when some small action or thing drastically changes the course of history.

This election wasn't about Hillary. Obama put his policies on the ballot in 2014 and again in 2016. Hillary doubled down on them.

America rejected the Obama agenda and is why come January his signature achievements and executive orders will be undone.
.
Trump won this election. Make no mistake about that.

No, Trump didn't win the election, Hillary lost the election.

Obamacare or the Affordable Care Act will be very difficult to repeal, because insurance and other healthcare companies are making record profits, and they will lobby very hard to keep it.

Keep telling yourself that if it makes you feel better.

Whether Trump won or Hillary lost it, he is the president elect.

Obamacare will be repealed by April.

in bold, isn't the opposite being reported? that those companies are dropping out because they're losing too much money?

I hope you're right, and I hope NAFTA goes down in flames before that.

I was just messing with you.
Yes Trump won, that's obvious, but he won because Hillary & her team fucked up.
If she hadn't fucked up she would have won the election.

Trump is a good salesman, I listened to some of his speeches and part of me wanted to believe him, but the rational part of me knew that it was all BS empty promises.
I'm still not sure if he really is like that or it was just a strategy to get nominated, but it worked.
I believe he will turn out to be the most liberal republican ever elected.
I'm not sure if his agenda is wealth or power, but I think his motives are based on greed, just like most politicians and corporate aholes.
But I hope I'm wrong and he really sincerely does want to "make America great again", and that he succeeds.

Expect the worst but hope for the best.

And before people start beating their chests about hypothetical matchups, The Dallas Cowboys can beat New England and then the next week lose to the Browns.

ISIS wasn't a factor in 2012 no SCOTUS decisions regarding same sex marriage and Obamacare hadn't kicked in.

Obama had the monolithic black voting block.

Not so sure Trump beats him.

I am beginning to think Ross Perot had it right " that giant sucking sound"...

I agree. Let's repeal it and see how things go.

It's the logical first step in bringing manufacturing back, followed by putting China in check with punitive tariffs and enforcing patent, trademark, and intellectual property laws.

Trump didn't appeal to some magical hidden vote, what happened was Obama Democrats failed to turn out and deliver. The margins are razor thin in all the battleground states, doesn't matter, playing the blame game is for crybabies.

the article acknowledges that each election is different but they lay out the numbers.

I think he would've got trounced by Obama in a head-to-head in 2012.

Let's see that ok.

Arizona: +9% Romney in 2012 ; +4.5% Trump in 2016. This one is tricky, Trump lost half of the margin that Romney had oiver Obama. I think Obama could have won it over Trump but let's assume Trump wins it
Colorado : +5.5% Obama in 2012 ; +2% Hillary in 2016. This one's a no brainer : Obama wins it
Florida : +1% Obama in 2012 ; + 1.5% Trump in 2016. I've always considered Florida as a leaning-red state more than a swing state, even thought Dems can take it when they have a good candidate. I'll give it to Trump +29
Georgia : +8% Romney in 2012 ; +6% Trump in 2016 so let's give it to Trump
Iowa : +6% Obama in 2012 ; +9.5% Trump in 2016. Trump +6
Michigan : +9.5% Obama in 2012 ; +0.5 trump in 2016. No brainer, Obama
Nevada : +6.5% Obama in 2012 ; + 2.5% Trump in 2016. This one goes to Obama
New Hampshire: +5.5% Obama in 2012 ; +0.2% Trump in 2016. Obama
North Carolina: +2% Romney in 2012 ; +4% Trump in 2016. So this one goes to Trump
Ohio : +3% Obama in 2012 ; +8.5% Trump in 2012 So I guees we can give it to Trump +18
Pennsylvania : +5.5% Obama in 2012 ; + 1% Trump in 2016. This one goes ot Obama
Wisconsin : +7% Obama in 2012 ; +1% Trump in 2016. This one is for Obama

So, if I(m doing the mths right, among the electoral votes won by Obama in the swing states in 2012, Trump would take 53 of them.
In 2012, Obama beated Romney by 332 electoral votes to 206.
According to what we've seen in that post, Obama would have won 279 to 259 against Trump.
