If you had even given it a second of consideration you would have realized that the Muslim faith has billions of followers, but it is usually the case that people don't WANT to know, so they grab up anything that justifies their position without looking further.

Not all Christians feel oppressed. It is funny how much they're not allowed to do certain things anymore though, but it is exactly what the Bible says will happen, so I don't understand why it upsets some of them so much.

I wish it could simply be 'live and let live'. Clever control structures as they are though, religions have dogma built-in to prevent such a neutral state. Western society has dulled these for western religions, but they're still there - just look at all the 'social conservatism' legislation that gets proposed in the US. They are still the product of 'my religion says that's wrong, so you shouldn't be able to do it'.

The book was crafted by clever people, of that I have no doubt. As a structure of control, the Bible is brilliant. But you should be cautious; it works much like the craftily-put-together horoscopes which always seem to be correct in their vague, apply-to-everyone ways. It wouldn't have survived the centuries otherwise.

I have just spent some time reading through this thread.
On the original question - Christmas is when it is to align with other pagan festivals and traditions and has nothing to do with the actual day of Jesus' birth.
A question was raised on what the meaning of "Christ died for our sins" was. From what I remember, his sacrifice meant that no more live ****** sacrifices needed to be made to have sins forgiven. "A New Covenant", I think it was called. This did not mean that everyone's sins were automatically forgiven there and then, only that they could be forgiven without a life sacrifice.

Do not take this personally because this is just my classification;

I put people into two groups.

The Christians and the Pagans or Satanist.

Satanist means to me a person who believes only earthly things, a person who is soulless.

It isn't. A Satanist is, by definition, a person who practices the worship of Satan.
and a Pagan is a person holding religious beliefs other than those of the main world religions.

We can divide people into three groups;

-Barbarians

-Christians

-Other religions


The barbarians are materialistic people, Christians have some sort of social message and other religions are foreign to me.

That's why I think that Christians have the best theses.

But this is a matter of opinion and someone else sees it quite differently.

I really did not see any aggression here, just a disagreement and pointing out that the picture posted was factually, not just inaccurate, but 100% made up. You have had a go at assari for not backing up his statements, but seem rather defensive when it comes to backing up the picture that you posted. I noted that you asked for references and then when someone else gave you some to look at your reply was that there were no "definitive text". That is not the point. There is no text at all that backs up the statements on the image!

First point, the picture isn't 100% made up as there are numerous accounts of the story of Horus. Second point, I "debate" assari in the same manner that he "debates". There was absolutely no reason for anyone to jump on me. There aren't any definitive texts on ancient religions, merely speculation and conjecture derived from the fragments of what has survived of them. On your first point - I haven't found any that relate to any of the points made in the image.
On the second point - fair enough!
On the third point - I am not jumping on you. It just seems to me that the image that you posted contained a whole load of rubbish. If you can point me in the direction of information that backs up any of the points, then I would stand corrected, but on the face of it, you have posted what appears to be anti-Christian propaganda with no basis in fact.
Finally, I feel she may have been a little coarse, not not really aggressive. However all this is typed and not spoken, so putting across and interpreting emotions is difficult and can often lead to incorrect conclusions. As far as this final part is concerned, she has apologised for the way that she came across, so I think we can just forget it.
