Meh...We euthanize domesticated ******* when we can no longer find hosts for them everyday. We raise, slaughter and eat livestock and fowl everyday.
There are those who don't believe we should be husbanding, slaughtering and eating livestock or any other living creature (with a complex nervous system I guess is their cut off point). And I'm as big a fan (or bigger) of our furry little friends as anyone and I understand there are many different perspectives out there...but advocating the violent death of a human over them is just screwy IMO.
She deserves some nominal punishment...more severe punishment if she or anyone else did it to someone else's pet but as tough as it sounds, we need to keep this **** in perspective.
Our pets, as much as we love them and their kind are not nearly the equivalent to humans. Tolerance for cruelty to them ought to be most certainly discouraged and it should be criminalized because domesticated ******* are more sentient, conscious living things.
But we euthanize perfectly healthy domesticated ******* everyday. I don't say this for the purposes of necessarily comparing what she did to euthanasia although that might be what she believes. I say it because it should bring some perspective back to these types of cases.
We love them, we advocate for them but calling for ******** or feeling violent towards people who do these crimes is a bit out of touch.
Come down of the back of some other domesticated ****** and accept that **** many of them everyday because there's no funding to host them or we don't want them running free creating a public nuisance/danger by breeding, attacking, etc. and we don't want to see the poor things scraped off the asphalt.
The story sucks if you love ******* and advocate for them but it's just another story.
And if my perspective is bothersome to you..just repeat over and over to yourself, "opinions are like bellybuttons, opinions are like bellybuttons" until you fall ****** or something.
