Back in the days when a car had a carburator. not fuel injected, had to let it sit and warm up before you took off for the day. anymore old time umm stories or experiences?

Remember re heating something on the stove? No such thing as microwave!

Black and white tv's only!

Students respectful and actually working in school.

Americans who spoke only English publicly.

Only buying things that you could afford.

Bethlehem steel having over 5000 employees in Pennsylvania, now down to zero.

Families eating meals together.

Paying 1 dollar to see a movie in a downtown theater.

Using a slide rule in physics class, no such thing as calculator.
and on and on.

Doing Donuts in my all stock pale green '69 Pontiac Firebird 400 cu. in.

Each and every date (high school) that I would go out on and we didn't have to fuck to have fun and love life, as well as the dates that I did have sex, were both equally memorable.

My pal's 69 Chevelle SS 396 with a Bored out 454 to 502 c.i.d. est 450 - 500 horseys, Dark Metallic Green - Black factory trim & stripes, no vinyl top, 4 speed M 22 Tranny, the obligatory 4:11s or were they 3:73s (?), a Single 850 Holleycarb . . . yea what else would you like to know ?

I had vehicles with carburetors and never had to let them warm up. :hatsoff:

I'd rather have a nice carburetor, especially a four-barrel.

Carburetors have the potential to atomize fuel better.

Plus,,,you could work on the fucking things and not have to plug them into a $100,000 computer!

Really ? Dad didn't get up special for you and make lil' Dean a hot cup of Cocoa , pan fry fresh piping hot pancakes, dig out the '63 Dodge Power Wagon (early model SUV) and clear the windshield and warm up the icy cold 318 ci v8 and defrost the interior and drive in 10 miles. . and . .and :o :jester:

I'm still relatively young, but...

Walking to your buddies house to see if he wanted to play.

When I would do work around the house for my mom, so I could go buy a pop.

Collecting hockey cards.

On a side note, is this a thread about good ole' days, or a thread for bragging about your old shitty ass cars. :)

--No video games or cable television. We had to go outside and make up our own fun.
--Pre-steroid athletes. Those were the kinds of guys a kid could look up to...except for Pete Rose.
--Gas was 50 cents a gallon. Cigs were 65 cents. A gallon of milk was 89 cents. A pound of ground beef was 50 cents. Public phones were a dime. You could buy a nice new home with a $40,000 mortgage.
--Nixon was president...well, not all the old memories were pleasant.

It's good to be the king...
Back in the day, your elders weren't afraid to give you a clip around the earhole - then they told your parents, who would naturally give you a clip around the other earhole (as I recall from a painful experience)

Teachers actually used canes to discipline unruly pupils...

More Reminiscing ~

• The infamous "I'll wash your mouth out with a bar of Ivory® (or was it Dial® ?) soap, if you say that again !" Could you imagine parents getting away with that disciplinary strategy today ? The children would be on the phone with child protective services so quick today !

But little did the smart ass punk kid know how much he or she would live to regret the reporting of his parents. -> Child Protective Services Nazi Brown Shirts !!!! :ak47: :D

• Also, I remember tap water that wasn't fortified with Sodium Flouride, Chlorine Gas and who knows what else (?). Why would you drink water that makes you houseplants sickly ?

• I've said it before - Looking back at the good ole days seems like it was a mere 8 or 10 years ago. That being said, try to keep in mind that life is very brief, make the most of it while you're here. I understand that when you're 21 years old, it seems like you're going to live forever, not so !
The best way that I could describe the passage of time is that, from day to day,
time doesn't seem to accelerate as we get older, it's just that when you reach the age of 30 and reminisce about what you were doing and where you lived etc. when you were 21, will seem like 3 years difference, not 9 ! Right, everybody at or past the age of 30 ?

• Also, I miss the "Joe Isuzu Commercials" :crying:

:D
