The secret ingredient? MY BALLS
When you view a thread, what do you do before you post in it yourself?

Personally, I try and look at all of the posts in a thread before I post myself. Sometimes, when there are a lot of posts already, I'll skim over the posts, mostly paying attention to certain members that have either been on the forum for a while or usually have posts that I enjoy reading.

I was just wondering what other people do, because it seems like a lot of people just look at the original post and ignore everything else before they post themselves. But, maybe I'm the only one who notices that and feels that way. :dunno:

Generally just look at the topic and if i've got anything to say i say it. I read all the threads but sometimes if it's not a subject i like i just won't talk about it, like all those american threads about the presidental race, i don't live in america and it's not going to affect me personnally so whats the point of me posting.

I usually do the same thing as you, either read most of the posts before it, but sometimes I do skip a page or two if its a really long thread. When I was a n00b I read the title of the thread and then skipped all of the posts and then posted my comment.

I try not to do that anymore, but sometimes I fall back into old habbits, especially if I feel the thread really doesnt have much substance to it, like the threads where its basically a list of names e.g. "Who has the brownest asshole" etc. But if I feel that the topic of the thread is intereting I will read it trough.

I generally do the same thing you do. But when there are more than 3 pages I like to just post according to the OP. And most of the time I look at the dates before I post just to make sure the thread hasn't been revived from 1986. If that's the case, I won't really post at all because i don't need to be the usual guy who either adds to the thread or says that the poster who brought it up is a dolt.

But if it's a recent thread and the thread topic calls for a moderate to short answer, and there are several long answers, I just bust in with a stupid short answer just to be funny and try to bring people back to square one. Most of the time it goes un-noticed, but thats life lol.

Also the fact that ive been gone for a few months means ive missed out on some thread I would have loved to have posted in, but since its already long past I can't quite contribute constructively.

So there are tons of factors that go through my mind when I'm gunna make a post. Hence the low post count to active time here ratio.

Plus i don't understand the sense in posting in most thread just for the hell of it, to me it's kinda attention whorish.

I only read the original post and the most recent 2 or 3 posts sometimes I"ll read the first 2 or 3 as well. Also it depends on the topic as to how much farther into it I read.

I try to read everything, but if it's several pages that I haven't read before, I'll just read the last page, say what I want to say and hope for the best.

I quickly skim over every post, but do pay particular attention to certain posts (ie: the original, posts from mates, witty and/or thought-provoking posts, etc)

Depends on the topic for me.

In a topic like this I rarely read anyones post but the first, but ifs its something of more intrest to me I will read each post.

I dont always post in everythread I read either.

Check the date, then read every post.

Unless it turns out to be a boring topic. Then I scamper away.

I do a mixture depending on the thread and the situation. I will admit that once in a while I will just skim because I'm not really in the mood to go through the entire thing.

I carefully read every post because sometimes something that I want to say has already been posted. Then I'll decide if I want to add to it or leave it alone. If something that I want to say hasn't been said then that's my chance to impart knowledge on all of the little people.

I skim over every post, if i got time.

If there's not many posts, like this thread, I'll skim over them. But for the ones that are 3 or more pages, I'm too lazy to read every single post. When I post, however, I will read most of the posts so my answer isn't just some mindless bullshit.

I read the title and some posts. Normally I search for links in posts and when I'm interested, I go deeper and read every post! In subscribed threads I read every post!

Skim read through most of the posts, read those from people I respect (AFA, BlueBalls, Becks etc) then post if I think it contributes. If it's another list of sodding names -"Who has the nicest big toe with pink nail varnish" - then I skip completely.

It always amazes me that I can go to those threads, type "Who ever adds to this thread with just a name next is an asshole" and still people will add a single name. I was going to link, but can't be bothered going through my previous posts

I skim over all the posts before I post myself cuz sometimes a thread will have some serious tension..etc.. and sometimes a thread may have more of a comical atmosphere, so I see what the tempature is like in the thread before I post! :2 cents: :hatsoff:
